  1. Today I gave my yoga students the option to have an extra long savasana, 3 our of 4 said yes (fourth student didn't care one way or another). My rationale being that we have done the summer time change last night, so a bit of extra rest would be welcome.

    So I did an XL savasana, with both a guided body scan and a pranayama exercise (mini yoga nidra session) before settling into (gentle music) savasana.

    It was a very welcome change in class, it seems :)

  2. I just did a 70 minute yoga nidra with "droning music" (it sounded like tibetan monks praying to me). I can say that kind of music puts me to sleep, I do not remember much of the nidra (doesn't help I could barely understand the words being spoken by the guide/teacher).

  4. Pull up program part 2 - week 1 - day 4

    Warm up: 3 rounds
    - 1 min thoracic foam rolling
    - 20 banded pull aparts
    - 10 dead bug let down

    Part 1: Pull up, baby - 10 rounds:
    - 3 box finishing pull ups
    - rest as needed (+-1min)

    Part 2: Hold on, baby - 4 rounds:
    - 10s top of pull up hold
    - 60s rest

    And then I guided a yoga nidra practice for my TT & went on a walk with @jan :D

  5. Does anyone have a recommendation for a yoga nidra guided meditation that is not for helping you fall asleep? I’m trying to access a calm state without falling asleep. Any recordings on the Insight Timer app, Headspace, or YouTube would be preferred. Thanks in advance! #YogaNidra #meditation

  6. I’m very picky when it comes to guided meditations. The voices almost always grate, so I’d never pay the exorbitant subscriptions that are now expected.

    Dr Siddharth Ashvin Shah is one of the few whose voice really works for me. I bought some of his albums on iTunes years ago, but they’re all on streaming now, under the names Splendor of Meditation, Music for Deep Sleep and Greenleaf Integrative.

    Here's an example. I hope others find it helpful.

    Wake up! 6 rounds
    - 6 French presses
    - 6 skull crushers

    Hold it one more time: 3 rounds
    - 30" feet elevated plank (37cm)
    - 30" arch hold (was supposed to be 20" but it was easier to make the tabata timer 30-20)

    Today there was also a nice walk during the hour it was dry, and a 40 minute yoga nidra session.

  9. My bank is being overzealous with fraud protection, which means I am having trouble loading my business card to pay the next course I want to follow... Annoying, but thank you bank (also, thank you bank worker that answered my chat question on a Sunday afternoon, you don't get paid enough).

    For those curious: I'll be taking a yoga nidra teacher training in the next months, to improve the restful qualities of savasana.

  13. Took a half day worth of overtime today, because I was feeling drained.

    OF course a manager demanded I went in to the office for a meeting (that yes, could have perfectly been a teams, since half the people were on teams anyway). Which meant wasting 1h driving there and back.

    So my half day off started a bit later and even more tired, so I did some #YogaNidra deep guided relaxation, which often helps.

    Then I watched some more of the yoga for athletes course I am taking (super interesting session on #YogaForCrossfit #CrossFit), and afterwards I went for a walk.

    And I'm sure people at work judged me because I took time off in the middle of a delivery period, but it's either that or ending sick / exhausted, so I've been setting boundaries and doing what I need to do to keep myself healthy.
