Today's #YogaForCrossFit class was focused on the arms. Lots of elbow flexion & extension, forearm pronation & supination.
We also worked on bound headstand & forearm stand, in the middle of the room. First I assisted them up, and most of them just kept trying on their own and got so good at freestanding headstand (and some at forearm stand) that I am so amazed and proud of them.
I do not practice headstand or forearm stand, so I guided them in and out and just gave tips.
(I know some teachers will say I should not teach what I don't practice, but I have practised them before, I just don't any more).
They also asked to enjoy savasana in the sun, so we moved the mats for savasana 😇

Today's yoga class was a little bit Elvis Presley & a little bit Shakira.
We focused on the pelvis & hips ;) there was less pure asana and more other movement techniques and exploration. I had fun teaching this one too

Really enjoyed teaching today's yoga class, first of a series with anatomical focus, centred on the spine & core. Breathing awareness, some nerdy anatomy, and a lot of core work in a flow/workshoppy kind of class.

In case you wonder how does an #AnatomyNerd #YogaTeacher prepare her #YogaForCrossfit sequences, this is how.
Take the #wod #WorkoutOfTheDay that happens before the yoga class, check which muscles are used by the movements, throw in a table, color code which muscles are used the most, and then go in reverse to the yoga-asana muscle table she created to select poses that will help stretch and/or strengthen those same muscles, plus add some #MyoFascialRelease for the most (red) used muscles.

Why do I teach yoga? To help people, and things like this make it so worth it: Today one of my regulars came up and gave this card with a thank you note 💜

Slowly getting my yoga students to be able to relax in savasana, and being told they're enjoying it, always feels like a win.
Coming from crossfitters that are go-go-go all telhe time? It's a big win.
(pity the other teacher keeps them go go go instead of helping down regulating their nervous system)

Took a half day worth of overtime today, because I was feeling drained.
OF course a manager demanded I went in to the office for a meeting (that yes, could have perfectly been a teams, since half the people were on teams anyway). Which meant wasting 1h driving there and back.
So my half day off started a bit later and even more tired, so I did some #YogaNidra deep guided relaxation, which often helps.
Then I watched some more of the yoga for athletes course I am taking (super interesting session on #YogaForCrossfit #CrossFit), and afterwards I went for a walk.
And I'm sure people at work judged me because I took time off in the middle of a delivery period, but it's either that or ending sick / exhausted, so I've been setting boundaries and doing what I need to do to keep myself healthy.

Today's #YogaForCrossFit #YogaClass had me switching between three spots (top of room, both sides) so students could see me demo (couple newbies 🙃 ).
Any other #YogaTeacher does this?
