South Western #Railway and Network Rail Wessex will introduce a temporary timetable on the West of #England line from Monday 10 August because prolonged hot, dry weather has affected track stability between #Salisbury and #Exeter. Speed restrictions on a 60-mile section between Tisbury and Honiton mean fewer trains can operate safely. Services between #London Waterloo and Salisbury will continue every 30 minutes, with hourly trains to #Yeovil Junction and Exeter St Davids served every two hours. Journeys to and from Exeter will take up to 27 minutes longer, while most Yeovil services will also be slightly slower. The changes will remain in place until further notice. Engineers have strengthened the route since last year and continue to monitor vulnerable sites, while longer-term work is under way to improve resilience to extreme weather.
