I've been working on a modification of the #YearZeroEngine from #FreeLeaguePublishing to turn it into the engine for my own #TTRPG, which I've been developing over the past couple of years.
It's hard working with only the YZE SRD.
It would be nice if FLP published an actual book for their engine, like Chaosium does with the BRP.
Sadly, because R3DSHIF7 is a story- and character-drama-heavy game that uses D6 dice pools, the #Chaosium #BasicRoleplaying engine wouldn't really fit.

On Tuesday, Knight Errant Media will launch the Titan Effect RPG Zero. I'm one session away from wrapping up a #TalesFromtheLoop "mystery" I've been running for my childhood friends for the past 6 months. (We play short sessions online very infrequently.) I made HEAVY modifications to the Recycled Boy, the adventure that ships with the Starter Set. Overall, it's been a great experience! The game runs on a stripped-down version of #FreeLeague's #yearzeroengine. It's simple, elegant and non-tactical. I've learned a lot in the process! Highly recommend. #ttrpg

So Westerns came up repeatedly when I asked last night which genres were underrepresented in the TTRPG space. Just a FYI, there's a traditional Western TTRPG Kickstarting right now. It's called Tales of the Old West and it's based on the Year Zero Engine.

Started tinkering yesterday and made some headway. I think there's some potential there. But I do need to think about how to include the various GURPS advantages / disadvantages, combine them with the career talents from Alien RPG, and figure out a way to use the stress mechanic in a way that fits the setting (and tone of the game).
But I already have some ideas on how that might be accomplished.

I've been running #Dragonbane battle simulations for the past few weeks. I am so impressed with all the elegant touches and how smoothly it runs. Folding in the #YearZeroEngine roll pushing is terrific, too, both in terms of mechanics and roleplaying. #FreeLeague

Yesterday's #TTRPG mailbag.
#ForbiddenLands I have been eyeballing this one for a while. I really like the #YearZeroEngine and I like a lot of what this has to offer. The only concern I have is the Willpower currency, but online chats have said it works.
(I own way too many fantasy RPGs.)
#Marvel Multiversal: I wasn't sure if I would ever buy this; I prefer ICONS for superheroic stuff. However, the mechanics as similar enough to #FantasyAGE that I was sold.

Chin stroking time on the Coriolis Great Dark quickstart.
Where to start?
Maybe The Delve, the prescriptive approach to exploring ancient and dangerous locations for artefacts.
Mightily similar to the classic mini board game Deep Sea Adventure?

A 3 partidas #CandelaObscura #BrokenTales #TierrasQuebradas #AventurasDeLaMarcaDelEste #WorldOfFantasy

I think I have made a decision.... 😎
In my quest for the best rules (for me) to use when #GMing a #ttrpg in #TheExpanse universe. Got selection down to either #BasicRoleplaying #BRP or #YearZeroEngine #YZE.
And the choice is...
*Drumroll*
I will base it on #AlienRPG, since talents and skills are best match for Expanse and require least amount of tweaks to be useable.
I'm also fond of #lifepath character generation, so I have created a draft of a flowchart. Now I need to start to assign actual values to the chart and do some beta testing 😎
I wonder if I'll ever will be ready to play 🤣

So, my thoughts about running an #theexpanse #ttrpg campaign is still ongoing.
But I have narrowed down the options to either #YZE or #brp.
Year Zero Engine has games like #AlienRPG, #CoriolisRPG and newly released expansion #AdAstra. For Basic RolePlaying I will have to turn to #CthuhluRising and #CthulhuThroughTheAges with #CthuhluIcarus as main source for rules.
As a DM I tend to let my players do plenty of dice-rolls, which in turn drives the story forward, where failures can be as exciting as successes.... 😎
But YZE punishes dice-rolling and rolling to often can give high amounts of stress to fast.
I can always do non-stress rolls when my players are in a non-stress situation. But on the other hand, BRP doesn't punish rolling. But still have mechanics for pushing failed rolls and the consequences of that 😁Anyone out there have tried to run YZE with more dice rolling than recommended?

I've been thinking of running an #ttrpg campaign based on #theexpanse universe.
But.
I'm not a fan of the official #rpg
Looking at my options for rulesets I like that are (somewhat) easy to adapt my current options are:
Open D6 (Have played Star Wars D6)
Basic RolePlaying (Love #BRP)
SpaceMaster (Played LOTS of RoleMaster)With upcoming Mutant: Ad Astra as a possibility.
What are your experience with those? And have I missed something I must know of?
