Swoim wpisem na twiXerze nakreślił kierunek, w jakim podąża Windows 11. Wizja ta - mówiąc delikatnie - nie spotkała się z entuzjazmem komentujących. Proponuję chwycić za popcorn i wczytać się w sekcję komentarzy.
Z całego serca kibicuję Pavanowi, aby wytrwał na swoim stanowisku jak najdłużej! Być może dzięki niemu doczekamy roku Linuxa szybciej niż się spodziewamy 😉

After happily running an
innernetmesh network for years, our fibre provider seems to have done something in the last couple of days which broke access from home to the remote machines - everything here couldn’t talk to anything remote all of a sudden.Even swapping the port from 51822 to 110 (pop3 - something that shouldn’t be filtered) didn’t make things happy.
Cue a frantic couple of hours trying to get a Nebula network up. Which involved having to remember how to work
m4because you need 4 files per machine (nasty) but you can embed 3 of them into the 4th (YAML, NASTY) andcppwas a massive pain in the arse for including files into YAML without faff and torture.On the plus side, now it mostly works as before (except everything is now on a single 10.42.0/24 whereas
innernethad clients on 10.42.1/24 but the server on 10.42.0/24. But luckily most things were just talking to the server host anyway.) -
Today I learned that #Linux surpassed 5% of the US #Desktop "Market Share" in June. For comparison, Windows has dropped to 63%.
This seems to only be rising as people balk at the #Windows11 nonsense, see that Linux has gotten very user friendly (especially #KDE and #LinuxMint) and highly compatible (with #Valve lending support to the #Proton/#Wine pojects for the #SteamDeck), and end up making the switch from #Windows to one of the user-friendly distros.
Calling it, this is the #YearOfLinux. We're becoming mainstream.

30 days ago I put a request to remove my old #Microsoft Hotmail account from their services. Today, I got the verification email. Does that mean all my data is gone? Probably not, but they won't get any more details for whatever marketing purposes they might want to use that data for. It might never be the year of #Linux, but the #YearOfLinux just started for me. A bit bittersweet, as that old #Hotmail account was my introduction to email and the start of my internet journey. So long M$. :dab:

Not because Microsoft's reqs for W11 disqualifies hundreds of millions PCs from upgrading. It will help, but not as much as many hopes.

Ich denke, mit den Entwicklungen der letzten Wochen ist ein #YearofLinux im Rahmen des denkbaren. Wenn #UnplugTrump sein Momentum halten kann und Menschen realisieren, dass #Linux nicht gleich #Terminal bedeutet, denke ich, dass eine Zeitenwende bei Hardware herstellen und Desktop Nutzern im Bereich des Möglichen sind.

I just realized that I've had a #Linux machine in one way or another now for over 20 years. I'm always amazed by the question that comes up regularly in various online sites "is Linux stable enough as a daily driver?" and similar questions.
YES, it is. It always has been in my experience. I think the question should rather be "What are your expectations" or "What is your workflow".
