It’s again time for ListenBrainz’s “Year in Music”.
So, this is what I most listened to in 2025. I don’t know how I feel like about OST making such a large part of my listening experience. But I find it really funny to have Linkin Park’s “From Zero” album in my top, considering I basically only listened to one song hundred of times: “The Emptiness Machine”. I was rather indifferent about the rest of the album.

I am not as satisfied with it as I was in previous years, but the wild range of genres and artists truly reflects the diversity of my listens. I love it.
I am most proud of C.U.R.A. by Dietro L’Angolo, a local rap collective from La Pigna, Sanremo, appearing there. They are my friends and I have been listening to them endlessly since they performed at @scambi in August 2025. I am also the one who added their album to @musicbrainz 😉

Almost missed my listenBrainz year in music!
I became poppy obsessed in the last 2-3 months of 2024. TBH, I thought Faye Webster was gonna top it. beabadoobee's new album also really grew on me in late December. I'm surprise alvvays snuck in at number 2. Overall a good year with a lot of good new music.

Yesterday https://last.fm/ (@lastfm) emailed their year in review reports, which they called #Playback24 and Last.Year.
Kudos to them for waiting until the new year to do so, and breaking with the pattern of services prematurely posting year in review summaries.¹
They’re also available on the web, without requiring a native mobile app to view.

The page title calls it your #YearInMusic, and the URL your #ListeningReport.
It has many interesting elements, from various top listened lists (artist, album, track), to what percent of 2024 listens (which they call scrobbles) were new artists, albums, and tracks.
Their “Top Tags” time chart is quite cool. Fascinating to see the differences in music listening over the seasons and the whole year.
The report has many interactive features, so it will take me some time to figure out how to save, export, and/or republish my listening report on my personal #indieweb site.
For now I used Firefox to save the page as an .html page to my laptop, and was quite impressed with how much of the information was available in that one file. Much more than #Spotify’s #Wrapped.
That’s step 1. Step 2 is figuring out a good way to blog at least some of it.

I love all the new end of year summaries that the scrobble services have this year.
My favourite part is listenbrainz's genre chart thing. I'm not sure how they have decided that I listen to so much soft rock, though!

Started listening to Daniel's music after reading Ocean of Sound by David Toop and reading a YouTube comment under a mentioned album in the book recommending Replica. I had to check it out.
