  1. The cinnamon yaupon tea in honor of Christmas looks like hair-o-the-dog strong. I took the lid off the pot & the steamy cinnamon smell instantly opened my sinuses. #tea #yaupon

  2. Making a new batch of yaupon tea: yaupon leaves, a few mountain mint leaves &, for Ann, a couple of slivers of cinnamon bark. #yaupon #tea #yaupontea

  3. First batch of yaupon tea from the new harvest. Very smooth. Much better than the ~3 year old dried leaves we had left. #yaupon #tea

  4. Well, that should be enough yaupon leaves for a while. #yaupon #tea

  5. About 15 minutes of harvesting yaupon (Ilex vomitoria) leaves. #yaupon #tea

  6. I forgot that I turned the #yaupon tea on to steep at 8 AM this morning. I might need a whip & chair. #tea

I had never heard of #yaupon before, so I had to look it up:

«The Latin name Ilex Vomitoria was given by early European observers who misunderstood Indigenous purification ceremonies—where vomiting was part of the ritual—and incorrectly assumed that the plant itself was emetic.»

LOL, gotta love misleading names. 😂

  8. Since coffee prices are on the rise, here's a great alternative: Yaupon tea, also known as Cassina or the black drink.

PS: As with anything new, test it out to see if it's good for you health-wise.

  10. I'd been wanting to try yaupon tea for a while. I finally did this week (yes, the frog on the label influenced my choice of what brand to try).

I tried it both hot and iced - hot I preferred with a bit of honey, as often with strong black teas. Pleasant floral aroma, taste definitely similar to but not the same as black tea. From first try, I like it.
