I like Yasujiro Ozu's movies, but they have a tendency to hypnotize me into relaxation. Inevitably I miss about a third of the movie and have to rewatch. But rewatching you see things you missed, so maybe not a bad thing?

Tōkyō Boshoku (Yasujirô Ozu, 1957). Melodrama con madre ausente, padre anodino y dos hermanas: Akiko, la menor rebelde y Takako, la mayor responsable (que ha cometido un acto de rebeldía: separarse del esposo alcohólico y abusador). Mucho plano fijo con personajes hablando al lente, aunque quedé medio harto con tanto paneo en la escena en la que el padre habla con la tía en el restaurante. Fuera de eso, me gustó mucho la manera pausada en la que se va contando la historia y como se desenvuelve cada conflicto.

ジブリの「おもひでぽろぽろ」の文庫版を読んでみた．主人公の思い出す子供の頃 (僕とほとんど同い年だろう) の思い出が原作をほぼ忠実に再現したものになっているが，主人公の今 (といっても1980年代) の物語は，小津安二郎のあの映画を彷彿させるものである．作中でも，名前は出ないが，「映画の中でのように」として参照されている．
　ところがあの映画がどれなのだかなかなか判明しなかった，杉村春子の演じるお母さんが，原節子の演じるちょっと婚期をのがしかかった女性に息子の嫁になってくれれば，というシーンは Berlin の映画館 (Arsenal かあるいはもっと大きな映画館だっただろうか) で何回もみたはずなのに．これが「麦秋」 (1951) だということが確認できるまでにひどく時間がかかってしまった．#YasujiroOzu
