So, nine days and approximately 12 (ish) hours of I unravelling later, I have saved the Yarn nest of knots I originally created. Only lost a tiny amount to felting and ended up with 4 cuts in total so 4 final connecting knots in final spool / ball

Skein to spool / ball. What a journey!

After three hours and a bunch of knots beginning to felt, And the yarn snapping once, I think, I think I am going to have to admit defeat on this one.

Lesson learned.

Note to Self: DO NOT attempt to cake yarn this thin without a swift :(

#Knitters #Knitting question:

I want to try a nice 'mindless' simple pattern but - it requires adding stitches *every other two rows*

So knit row 1, knit row 2, add increasing end stitches for row 3, knit row 4, knit row 5, adding increasing stitches in row 6 .. Continue until triangle is wanted size

What / how do I easily see when to increase ?
Row counter is not an option (dyscalculia)

Might be other thinking, but know I'll forget which row I am on ...

Historical Knitting & Crochet question:

How old is the usage of Blocking Pins* ?

Presumably it's tied to the invention and popular usage of rust proof pins - so somehow tied to Victorian Era Industrialisation ? - but this is hard for me, a non Historian to research.

[* Blocking Pins are groups of pins that today usually have plastic handles but can also be made with wooden handles]

Circular needles are fun!

Thought I might have to buy new ones as 25 cm is short, but too long for what I am doing but .. tomorrow I will try magic loop with the other much longer cabled needles I have.

::Sigh:: Reading and watching tutorials really is no substitute for actually *doing the thing*

[~I know this~ and yet I keep having to relearn this fact !]

Tantalisingly close to finishing a sock (my first ever!) on a round loom.. but I lost yarn chicken and have to wait untill I can buy more of the same.

It's a tube sock with ribbed cuff and as I used a loom, that somehow ~feels~ like cheating?* even though I am definitely a beginner and only just realised the pattern is apparently advanced 👀😑

Started making a blanket in October 24th 2023.

Just finished it.

Made using crochet with pre-looped yarn and it was my first time using that sort of yarn.

I think that *actual making* was probably 6 - 8 (?) hours, I had ten balls of yarn.

Enjoyed it a lot! Learned quite a bit about stitch directionality and also ways to deal with dropped and/ or extra loops.

#knitters ! I need some #knitting needle shopping help.

Must meet all the following requirements:

- Available to buy in the UK
- 7 to 10 inches length [18 -26 (ish) cm ] No Longer
- Metal or plastic. Not Wood. Not Bamboo
- Not Circular. I don't want the ends attached
- 3mm or 2mm.
( Actually want to buy both a 3mm and a 2mm pair)

Do these exist?

Started knitting and crocheting something with 2 mm needles and have decided that is the limit for my hands / fingers / eyes.

Anything lower is basically making lace / and or creating with wire and needle tools.

I have great admiration for those creating in more miniature than that - but it's not for me.
