I have a plan on the back burner to yarn bomb my kids' school. But I don't know the first thing about yarn bombing, so I'm looking for practical advice on how to yarn bomb.

I was thinking to go for smaller columns or poles to bomb first. But then the question arises: should I go with panels or a long ribbon/tape to cover it? Also, what yarn should I use both in terms of thickness and material? How long does an outdoor yarn bomb last? Is there a way to take care of the yarn bomb so that it lasts longer?
