I have a plan on the back burner to yarn bomb my kids' school. But I don't know the first thing about yarn bombing, so I'm looking for practical advice on how to yarn bomb.
I was thinking to go for smaller columns or poles to bomb first. But then the question arises: should I go with panels or a long ribbon/tape to cover it? Also, what yarn should I use both in terms of thickness and material? How long does an outdoor yarn bomb last? Is there a way to take care of the yarn bomb so that it lasts longer?

Wife's sent along photos of the latest postbox topper to appear near where she works. This one clearly celebrates the emergency services that people like with a fire engine, ambulance, air ambulance, and RNLI lifeboat represented.
