This book was my wife’s Christmas present to me this year. This book is Miyazaki’s favorite book and was a tangential inspiration for his film “The Boy and the Heron.” Enjoying it so far - a nice coming of age story with a philosophical bent.

Just learned that my forthcoming #AngelIsland #YANovel is a "Gold Standard Selection" of the #JuniorLibraryGuild, an organization that curates #KidLit books for libraries.

When I was thirteen, I went to sign out Forever by Judy Blume because I heard it had dirty scenes in it. But the librarian told me that it had scenes with sex in it, and I could sign it out but should be aware. I chickened out from signing it out because I was afraid she’d think I was a pervert.
