Même chose ici sur #Okinawa où la plupart des gens pensent que #Yanbaru est une forêt naturelle, primaire, sauvage... Elle est pleine d'anciens chemins dont certains datent du Royaume, murs de soutenements en pierres sèches, murs anti-sangliers, pentes aménagées en terrasses pour les champs ou les résidences, fours à charbon...

Since I’m a sad #archaeologist trapped in an office today, I’ll send photographs of past surveys in the northern #Yanbaru woods. And since it’s friday, it will count as #FootPathFriday as well !
This is from a survey in february 2020, probably the most productive we ever had in Yanbaru. Since I’m a contractor, I am not allowed to give the exact location and I wiped the photograph properties.

There definitely is something strange occuring this year. I went hiking to yanbaru last week and *none* of the iju trees were blooming (they're generally at their peak for the golden week). As said in the article, the irukanda were just dying (they're generally at their peak in march during my reconnaissance surveys). Even a non-botanist like me can see that there's something wrong...
