  1. @Q3fRtMU0WFxfK2M Moved to #yamtrack a few months ago, and just was about to suggest the native import feature but seems #tralt disabled the free API because so many users left lmaooooo.

If you are directly coming from #trakt I gan highly recommend this fork of #yamtrack !

  4. Trakt felt irritating for a while now, TV Time died and Simkl (temporarily) paywalled their import feature.
So this finally kicked me in the shins to have a proper look into #selfhosting options.

    Migration from Trakt to #Yamtrack.
    1. Download raw export from trakt at app.trakt.tv/settings/data
    2. Extract zip into folder named `trakt`
    3. Run python script mention in [this comment](github.com/FuzzyGrim/Yamtrack/)
    4. Import generated csv file into yamtrack

Well... It was working. The API's /history endpoint is totally broken now.

Watching development on Floppy is a fun demonstration of what a Claude account and no actual programming knowledge is capable of.

I should probably just switch over to Yamtrack before there's too much watch history after the Trakt API lockout that I need to manually re-add again.

  18. Alright. I managed to replace my old Trakt feed in Glance with a new Floppy feed.

Now I need to clean up the spaghetti code and submit a pull request with Glance to get it listed in the Community Widgets. (I also need to update my old Trakt widget to note that its functionality is now locked behind Trakt's paywall.)

The Glance dev hasn't actually approved any pull requests in a while, so not sure how long that'll take...

  23. RE: mastodon.rxbrad.com/@RxBrad/11

Floppy looks like a potentially viable self hosted replacement, since Trakt is apparently speedrunning the dumbest enshittification path possible.

  28. Looks like #trakt #traktTV pulled the plug on their v2 interface for VIPs (paying members) as well.
It's a pity to see it go to shit that way.

Thank goodness I'd already exported my data and had imported it in my local #Yamtrack, and have been keeping it in sync (manually). It doesn't have everything and I'll miss the comments section. But it'll be good enough to keep track of the stuff I've watched.

  33. I'm just to dumb to figure this one out. My media / TV setup is currently as follows:

    - dumb TV (hell yeah!)
    - Kodi on a Pi connected via HDMI
    - Kodi uses video lib on NAS
    - Kodi scrobbles to Trakt
    - I control Kodi via HDMI CEC

Happy customer, but .... Kodi has a bit old UI, but more importantly, Trakt is enshittifying at an alarming rate.

So I have been looking for an alternative. Yamtrack (github.com/FuzzyGrim/Yamtrack) looks very nice as a self-hosted option. But, there is no Kodi addon to scrobble with. It has Jellyfin integration and I have been running a Jellyfin server next to Kodi to see if that could be an alternative to Kodi.

Streaming via app or web from Jellyfin works fine, but I can't figure out, what the setup would be for my dumb TV. I do not want to have Big Tech devices running in my network.

Can I have "something" running on my Pi that streams video from the Jellyfin server via HDMI to my TV? It would be nice if I could still control via HDMI CEC, but an app on an old phone would also be a valid remote control option.

Who can help this despaired man? Help much appreciated. 🙏

  43. The UI of Trakt tv , which I've been using for 15 years (since 2011), used to be perfect.

Then, the product managers, who clearly don’t understand their customers at all, came along and absolutely ruined it. I mean, I can't even check in to an season in bulk anymore. I'm completely lost in the interface, which should be optimized for mobile view but it isn't.

    Damn it.

Good thing I exported my data to Simkl , and self-hosted Yamtrack and Ryot.

  48. Generally I've been happy with trakt.tv to keep track of my watching history for movies and series in the past. However since this year they've switched to a new UI version (v3), which lacks a lot of features, but their older v2 was excellent.
As it's uncertain how long v2 will last for paying members, I've deployed a local #yamtrack which looks great.
It also has support for books and games.
Gonna run them in parallel for a bit (actual yamtrack syncs from trakt via API)
