But in this photo, this Xylocopa bee shows the back of the thorax so yellowish that it looks like another variety (Xylocopa pubescentes, Xylocopa virginica?) It would be very strange because the photo was taken in Valencia at the end of April.

It's really beautiful and a lovely photo, but this one's a #bee. I think it's a carpenter bee in the genus #Xylocopa. Depending on where the photo was taken, it's probably possible to identify the species.
