  1. Is #ELKS (8086 linux) still a thing? Would the #book8088 be a good machine for it?

I suspect the #XTCF BIOS wants a DOS4 style partition table so i dunno if the old 8086 UNIXes (#coherent, #xenix, #minix) would cooperate.

Then there's the whole issue of installing such a thing on a machine that doesn't support floppy drives... 😝

  6. #Book8088 mounts the #XTCF cf card (from my Tandy1000) in a USB adapter ! Now we're getting somewhere!

Edit specify using USB. In Theory should be able to swap cf cards but that's for later.
Edit again for basic grammar fail

  11. Ok That's new and not really good...

#XTGold (1.4) sees but doesn't understand long filename directory entries. This messes up xtgold's free space calculations and might have other worse effects...

So, if writing your xt-cf cfcard from linux or other LFN aware OS, be careful!

  15. Finally got my Tandy 1000sx running again!
Bye-bye ST01 scsi controller hello XTCF!

Cute little 256M cf card, with a 32M partition and a 213M partition. (guess who didn't have any DOS5 boot disks and had to first get dos 3.3 booting off cf and then upgrade :)

Since xtcf wants to be at io address 0x300, I'm going to need to reconfigure the NE1000 ethernet card.
