It's somewhat oddly satisfying that, after all this time, @cabel's core idea from his 2024 #XOXO talk is still spreading and growing. 🌻

It's so rare to see things end well that when one of them does, it reminds you that things can, in fact, end well. Thanks Andys for your stewardship of #XOXO, it was super special to a lot of people

I've had Erin Kissane's #XOXO talk bookmarked for a few days but finally watched it. I would that I could say something more eloquent than 'I am sorry that it took this long'

One of the best talks I’ve ever seen. Thank you @cabel and thank you @andybaio and @andymcmillan for #xoxo. Take 20 minutes out of your day to watch this. Trust me. It’s worth it. https://social.panic.com/@cabel/113307552485762621

How come I never heard about XOXO until last week? My pre-mastodon information sources let me down.
I watched Erin Kissane's (@kissane) talk last night, and then followed it by a bunch more. So much good stuff.
Erin's talk, especially, was inspirational. At some point I'll be ready to retire from my current gig at Backblaze, and be ready for a new project. Hopefully a meaningful project aimed to improve the world.

I’m here to tell you to watch this #xoxo talk by @cabel
It’s so beautiful that I could never spoil it but it’s so so so worth your time.

Thanks to @kissane and others who shared it and brought it to my attention.

omg... go watch this #XOXO talk right now. It is wonderful.

I can't believe that there was still a conference with people wearing masks even when presenting and that I didn't get to go. 😭

So, I have a @tedium piece coming up from @mattl about passenger trains—specifically, what it’s like to travel in an Amtrak cross-country. Matt has done two round-trips in the span of just a couple of months, including recently from #xoxo.
He wants to know: Do you have any questions about such long train rides? We’ll use some of the responses we get in the piece. Look forward to your insights!

Are the recordings for this years #xoxofest already online? I can't find anything.

The open web is amazing.
So we keep saying in our little subculture, e.g. at #xoxo on the weekend or all over the #fediverse and #indieweb. And generally are met with incomprehension outside of our little subculture.
IMHO that's because we are not saying **why** the open web is amazing.
I think it all boils down to: "on the open web, I can be much more creative, with minimum expense, than elsewhere, and so easily share my creations with the world."

It has been very nice seeing all the #xoxo people come to Portland. It’s a reminder of how great Portland is.
I have been stuck here most of the last four and a half years, because of the pandemic, and health issues with me and my family.
And I have been living here — this time — for 15 years. I have been deeply feeling a need for change for a while.
So, it was awesome to have a bunch of cool people come from a bit further away and remind themselves and me of our fair city’s features
