From COLECTIVA CIHUACOATL:
ALERT!
IN RESPONSE TO CRIMINALIZING RHETORIC AND THREATS FROM POLITICAL ACTORS
Let’s keep an eye on the sit-in—this is not a “small minority” group; they are neighbors, indigenous people from the community, chinamperos, and defenders of the territory.
The rights of an Indigenous community have been violated; a “consultation” cannot be based on 1.9% of the votes—equivalent to 395 people out of a total population of 30,700.
Let us remember that this is a nonpartisan and autonomous organization of the Indigenous people of San Gregorio Atlapulco.
Let’s stand in solidarity with our comrades—the defenders of the land and the right to a healthy environment—and ensure that their right to free expression is respected and guaranteed.
There is a warning about political operatives who have historically been brought in from the communities to WORK for political parties and do their dirty work.
TODAY, October 7, AT 4:30 PM, they have called for a gathering in the town square to disrupt the sit-in and violate the rights of our comrades and defenders.
We hold all levels of government—the Xochimilco Mayor’s Office, the Mexico City Government, and SEGIAGUA—accountable for whatever may happen to
our comrades.
