End of today's activation at US-4557, with the JPC-12 antenna configured for 10 meters. The gate back to the main road is in the background. Thanks to all the hunters today! #POTA #ArizonaTrail #QRP #Xiegu #HamRadio

Hi #HamRadio friends! Thanks to everyone who took the time to read my posts last week.
I came up with a design for a clip-on mic hangar for the #xiegu G90.
Check out my blog for more details: https://tdot.fish/2026/02/08/g90-mic-hook
Or grab the STL and print your very own on from Printables: https://www.printables.com/model/1591939-xiegu-g90-clip-on-mic-hook
Milder weather is coming to my area this week so hopefully I can get back on the air soon ... good thing because I'm out of 3D print ideas for the moment.

#hamradio inspired me to get back into 3D printing ... I designed and 3D printed a clip-on speaker redirector for my #xiegu G90.
You can read more about it here on my blog: https://tdot.fish/2026/02/01/g90-speaker-redir
Or grab the model and print your very own: https://www.printables.com/model/1581461-xiegu-g90-clip-on-speaker-redirector

HI #hamradio friends.
I could not find a clear explanation on how to work the filter on my #xiegu #G90 with the current (v.1.80+ firmware), so I put one together for the community.
It can be found on my blog for those who prefer a read: https://tdot.fish/2026/01/16/g90-filter
Or as a video, with captions, on YT: https://youtu.be/xGhJ5ZyVq1s

Forgot to mention that I activated US-0979 over the weekend. 32 FT8 contacts on 20m in 2 hours from coast to coast. #Xiegu X6200 running at 8w using #Elecraft AX3 antenna. #hamradio #amateurradio #pota

@mallory my first - and to date only - HF gear is a #Xiegu x5105 and I am VERY happy with it.
As a new #ham you want to get on the air NOW. At least that was what I wanted to do. Learning to solder beforehand is nothing I’d like to do in that situation.
It has a great #ATU built-in and also a built in keyer for #CW as far as I remember.

I'm still not sure if I like it, but at least I give it a try: Lately I'm experimenting with #ft8 on #10m & #15m in #portable operations. I want to get a feeling for #digimodes.
It's surprisingly challenging doing this when being /p. And I have one big issue, maybe you can help me?
Why is it that in MOST of my QSOs on FT8 the OMs write at least 5 times their report and don't get my final „RR 73“ in the meantime? Even when getting a good report? Any ideas? I'm doing 15W with a #Xiegu G90.

There is a mailing list for the #Xiegu #X6200 a new radio via #radioddity that builds on the previous generation #X6100
https://groups.io/g/xiegu-x6200
So far early reports have uncovered lots of small issues, many of which sound to my ear like they could be fixed in firmware, but collectively sounding pretty awkward.
It looks like @greppy has been having some #pota fun with it per https://technomage.net/2024/06/the-x6200-initial-thoughts/

Xiegu G90 with FLRig – Getting U-D mode on startup
An unexpected follow up to my last post.
One of the problems with newer versions of FLRig is that it seemingly causes my G90 to revert to the last non-data mode that FLRig was in. For me this is usually USB (Upper Sideband). This is because when I run FLRig with WSJT-X, I need to be in USB-Data mode on the G90, but FLRig doesn’t have a dedicated mode for […]

I made my own version of K3NG's Arduino CW keyer. Using an Arduino Nano. All components were sourced from AliExpress. The PCB was designed in KiCad. It will be used to key the Xiegu X6100 during next Region 1 CW fieldday.
https://github.com/k3ng/k3ng_cw_keyer/wiki
Will be documented in detail on https://www.golb.be/nano-keyer/
Gerber files and links to the components will be shared.

Radioddity is teasing a Xiegu X6200, and there's a groups.io mailing list
https://groups.io/g/xiegu-x6200
alas the groups.io list has 100 members already so it's closed to new members (until it gets a paid subscription, I guess) and the archives are also closed so it's not really a source of information.

I sat on a #Xiegu #x6100 for the first time these days. It's crazy, with a little patience you can operate it just like that, without instructions. It's not an ingenious user interface, but simply much less confusing than anything #icom builds. Not to mention the bizarre menus of a #yaesu ;-) #hamradio #xiegu6100

Very good conditions on shortwave outside the city in the Harz. Disturbances below S1 and barely noticeable.

Yippee! Did my first 10m contact today! About 3583 km/2 226,37 mi from Austria to Saudi Arabia. Thanks Samir/HZ1SK!
Operating portable with my G90, a homebrew T2LT antenna on a Spiderbeam mast.
I also heard several DX stations in Uruguay, Guatemala, Chile! And also close by stations in Italy, France, Turkey ...
I love this solar circle.

Reading about the #Xiegu #X6100 . If I understand right, it's built around an Allwinner R16 quad-core Cortex-A7, running a binary-blob build of Linux as control plane firmware. Enough details have emerged to let people build a run #Armbian on it, though there doesn't seem to be open-source drivers for everything.
On the one hand, hackable radio! But how much of your radio time do you want to spend hacking on the radio, vs. making contacts?

The big negative is that the Xiegu DE19 digital interface (that I got to go with it) has been nothing but trouble. I will likely be returning it and getting a signallink instead. The main reason I got this radio was to be able to do FT8 and related modes on more bands, so the interface situation has been disappointing.
Positively --- I made a lot of SSB Phone QSO's today. I have been surprised by how much more I'm being heard at 20 watts over 5 watts.

I'm playing around in the #Xiegu #X6100 stock #Linux installation and it seems pretty clear that they tried (and failed) to get #bluetooth audio working.
The audio is managed by ALSA.
Bluealsa is installed with some half-baked configuration, in an attempt to get the sound out to BT devices...

First time in the field with my new #Xiegu #G90 from #radioddity. Received several comments on great audio quality and broke through a couple of pileups (or at least got lucky) with only 20W. Impressed! Can't argue with that view from the op position.
