While researching some Interlisp stuff I came across an Italian 1970-1990s science fiction graphic novel series initially called Rank Xerox, after the main character.
The series was soon renamed to Ranxerox over a lawsuit threat by the Rank Xerox company which, for some reason, didn't like to be associated with an amoral, far left leaning, cursing robot made from Xerox copier parts.

Только там он желтый и почти невидимый. Я не буду объяснять, как работает лазерный принтер. Барабан, тонер, коротрон, про это написано тысячу раз. Сегодня речь про то, что именно принтер дописывает поверх вашего документа и о чем вам не сказали. А по дороге, в статье, между главами, спрятан шифр. Его я расшифровывать не буду. Кто первым выложит ответ в комментарии, тот молодец.

¿Sabían que la dirección MAC originalmente proviene de un esquema de direccionamiento creado por Xerox para el sistema Ethernet?
Antes de convertirse en el estándar global gestionado por el IEEE, el identificador de 48 bits (conocido hoy como EUI-48) fue administrado inicialmente por la oficina de administración de Ethernet de Xerox Corporation durante la década de 1970. En aquel entonces, los identificadores se asignaban en bloques de 24 bits a las organizaciones, quienes a su vez definían los 24 bits restantes para identificar de manera única cada interfaz de hardware.
El diseño de 48 bits permite un espacio de direccionamiento de más de 281 billones de combinaciones únicas. Esta estructura se dividió en dos partes fundamentales: el Identificador Único de Organización (OUI), que corresponde a los primeros tres octetos e identifica al fabricante, y la parte específica del dispositivo asignada por dicho fabricante.
A medida que las tecnologías de red se estandarizaron a través del Proyecto 802, el IEEE asumió la responsabilidad de administrar estas direcciones para garantizar que no existieran duplicados en las redes locales a nivel mundial. Aunque términos como MAC-48 se consideran obsoletos en favor de EUI-48, el concepto de dirección física permanece como el pilar que permite la comunicación en la capa de enlace de datos del modelo OSI.
