#Xenophon, in his work "Anabasis," describes passing by the ruins of a large abandoned city during the retreat of the Ten Thousand Greek mercenaries in 401 BC. While Xenophon did not identify the ruins as #Nineveh, many historians have long believed that what he saw were indeed the remains of this ancient Assyrian capital.

Vous l'avez voulu, vous l'avez demandé, voici un thread sur ma lecture de l' #Anabase de #Xénophon , récit historico-biographique de l'#antiquite par un vieux zigoto qu'était pas top tolérant et démocrate.
Si vous aimez du fond du cœur les écrivains oligarques du IVe siècle av. J.-C., fuyez : ce résumé va se moquer résolument de Xénophon. Xéxé pour les intimes.

I research and write about ancient Greek political thought, especially the works of #Plato and #Xenophon. I also teach classical Greek at Newnham College, Cambridge.I'm a career changer - before returning to university to study #Classics I worked in #technology in #Cambridge. I co-wrote the first book on the ARM Risc Chip back in 1994, and I still follow the tech world.

3/3So called #Greens and #microParty leader #Xenophon, thinking only they would be protected, helped to raise the drawbridge behind them. They pretended to care though, donning pyjamas as they debated the change into the evening. Pulling up the drawbridge didn't benefit them however.
So we lost one very important thing that helped bring a bit of #balance into #Parliament.
