Some poor soul is parting with their 1997 Princess Diana Beanie Baby
At one point, these were being listed for thousands of dollars. Now, they're only $20-$40

I’ve recently come across this quote and being in my forties, I can very much relate to it.
In fact I wonder if becoming an Old Man Yelling at Cloud is the natural way of things, or is there anything I can do against disagreeing with most of the contemporary and future “developments”.

Okay, after discussion, I don't want term limits for senators and reps, but I do want age limits. Once you reach 67 you automatically retire. If you want to continue to lead you can do it as an advisor and trusted voice but you no longer get to be the decision maker. It's no longer your world, let the next generation run it even if you think they're dumb children. #xennial #politics #uspol

I saw Masters of the Universe last night. It was about the right amount of goofy and scratched my nostalgia itch (born in 1980). I hope they make the sequel that was hinted at in the midcredits scene!

This Fisher Price boat at the flea market unlocked some core memories. I loved this thing when I was little. Mine was usually half buried in some pile of dirt or mud puddle

Random thought: There have now been several generations that, if they know who George of the Jungle is, they only know him from the movie.

I've mentioned just how blank stare/non-interactive this last group of college students was. Here is more for that fire.

Is Matrix the new IRC?
Is it a generational shift going on?
Am I getting too old for this shit?
(My take is no - yes - no.)
Please discuss.

@ilovecomputers Yup. Mine too. The fediverse gives some hope that we might get some of that old vibe back.... But it won't ever be the same.

I remember this. In my memory of disasters during my childhood, it keeps company with the Challenger disaster and Chernobyl.

This reminds me of how Elfwood of the late '90s was hands-down the best social media network that had ever existed until the fediverse came along.
RIP, Late-'90s-Elfwood. You really were the best.

I just thought about something that is probably peak #Xennial: I wrote letters, by hand, to people that I met in online chats. 😄

There's a lot of me in this video. #Xennial. Those in the middle. Those who know how to deal with the old and the new world. Who adapted (and still adapts) overnight.
I know the video is either narrated or generated using AI, but I don't care. The text is good.

This video has been making the rounds lately and being right in the middle of this, it resonates quite a lot.
-
@dfx I had heard about Xennials a few months ago via Wikipedia. It was eye-opening to learn that there is actually this micro generation and the video resonated with me a lot. Except for "entering the job market in 2008". I had already finished uni a bit earlier.
I wish the author of this video had taken the time to fix the mangled AI-generated text in his images though :-)
But thanks a lot for sharing this!

As a guy born in 1982, I feel the urge to share this video with you guys.
Xennials... we exist! 😉

Changing out of my "Staying-Indoors" jogging pants and into my pair of "Running errands and might run into someone I know" jogging pants.
Edit: No actual jogging was done while wearing either pair of pants.

Synchronized 80s kid moment...
Me (picking up a butter knife): I got the knife.
Husband and I in sync: I-I-I-I-I want da knife!
10 year old: What the heck? -
Son: It's 90s day for homecoming week at school tomorrow. What should I wear?
Me and wife: THIS IS OUR TIME TO SHINE!!
