    Всегда хотел развернуть шару SMB с хранилищем на ZFS, но есть нюансы… Совершенно не приемлю, чтобы пользователи каким либо образом взаимодействовали с сервером, где расположен pool\ZFS. В моем понимании, СХД может включать в себя только служебные компоненты без прямого пользовательского доступа к его сети. Идея казалось очень простой - поднимаем виртуальный сервер, подключаем его к домену, цепляем туда существующий ZFS пул....

    Interesting times in uniting all Linux distributions even closer after the likes (not package managers) of Flatpaks and Snaps.

    ◉Dbin only accesses the configs and binaries which user requests
    ◉Every binary that dbin has in its repositories entirely self-contained
    ◉Dbin doesn't use a database - it can even be used without installing it
    ◉Dbin marks the programs that it installs/fetches using XATTR
    ◉Currently 3105 packages in the repositories (things like Steam and Lutris already in)

    So, #xattr extended attributes. I'm playing with some different filesystems, and it looks like #btrfs has a 4k limit, where the attributes need to fit into a single block (?) or extent or something. I'm not sure why, as many other modern filesystems allow essentially unlimited key/value data.

    So, xattrs are useful for metadata, but if you forget the `-X` flag with rsync sadness ensues. What are some useful alternatives that are filesystem independent? Metastore?

    Did all these tests, did some fixes, "#Linuxulator userland from source" branch builds fine on #FreeBSD 14-CURRENT/13.2-RELEASE, aarch64/amd64/i386 🥳

    Now doing test builds with 15-CURRENT, which already has a fix for the #Linux #xattr issue. Unfortunately, it's still incomplete. Neverending story 😞

    JFTR, not blaming dchagin at all. It seems Linux has some very weird design decisions, and semantics of the xattr syscall return codes -- EPERM is considered fatal by GNU/Linux tools, because Linux returns ENOATTR or ENOTSUP when access to e.g. the system namespace is restricted 🤯
