  1. RE: mastodon.bsd.cafe/@grahamperri

    @evgandr the packages are not in FreeBSD, they are in the ports collection.

    With regard to an organisation such as X11Libre, this is probably a very important distinction.

    Also, please see my recent first impressions.

  3. Anyone daily driving XLibre on FreeBSD in 2026?

    /u/BigSneakyDuck asks – <reddit.com/r/freebsd/comments/>:

  5. X11Libre: x11/xlibre on FreeBSD: first impressions

    <reddit.com/r/freebsd/comments/>

    – inspired by a recent claim that "everything works" (better than X.Org) with X11Libre.

    The experience with Oracle VirtualBox, and with QEMU (using Virtual Machine Manager), was quite different.

    I tried to be fair. From my first comment:

    "x11/xlibre is a very early version – 0.1 – I don't expect things to be smooth."

  7. @ellenor2000 having been queer-bashed, I do have more than a few thoughts about things such as homophobia, prejudice, equality, equity, and DEI.

    The four paragraphs below are from a mid-November post in Reddit, <reddit.com/r/freebsd/comments/>. GitHub discussions make things difficult to find, so I'm adding a screenshot to this toot.

    "The offensive comment above github.com/orgs/X11Libre/discu disappeared very soon after I used GitHub to report 'Hate Speech or Discrimination'.

    In addition to the disappearance: other users' responses were suitably robust.

    In the second of my screenshots there, Zotero, the folder name that's masked is:

  13. I find it quite funny that people getting money from Red Hat are campaigning against and calling Nazi the guy who forked Xorg. FYI Red Hat is owned by IBM, and IBM are the guys who sold to the Nazis the system to register and track people (the Jews). Feel free to keep acting like the morally superior ones.
