  1. Strange object that pulses for 2 min every 44 min discovered.

(Alt-txt: main picture shows a group of radiotelescope dishes in the desert of Australia. The southern Cross is in the background but they are pointing away from this region.
Also shows picture of region of nebulosity but unhelpfully does not define where it is. I would guess it to be somewhere in the Sagittarius or Scorpius Starfields.
Another animation shows a wildly spinning globe emitting light from its poles as a possible explanation.)

  2. New Reads! 👀

Australian astronomers have used Murriyang (Parkes radio telescope) data to make the most precise measurements of the nearest millisecond pulsar to Earth.

This new data was then used by researchers using the NICER telescope aboard the International Space Station to help further constrain the mass, radius and equations of state of matter of the brightest millisecond pulsar in the sky.

Wrote a little article outlining these new results on #SpaceAustralia

  4. Paper day for everybody involved and excited about #eRosita ! Here is the paper by my Kostas Migkas and his colleagues who, for the first time, performed a robust cross-calibration of eROSITA vs Chandra and XMM using a large galaxy cluster sample. The findings are crucial for a wide range of future X-ray cluster studies, and future eROSITA data will further improve these constraints!

  5. I you are into #XrayAstronomy tonight's batch of #Astroph preprints at arxiv.org/list/astro-ph/new will leave you sleepless ... as there are tons of papers on #eROSITA results included. The reason for this deluge is eROSITA's first Data Release today at 9:00 UTC: scicomm.xyz/@MPE_Garching@soci
