I’m at the part in my writing project where I have to cobble together the stuff I wrote in November into some sort of timeline. This is the part I hate the most. Consequently, I’ve been procrastinating like crazy. Replaying Wylde Flowers so I can check out the parts they added after I stopped the first time. I think it would be fun to write stories for games. Anyone here doing that?

CW: Wylde Flowers, spoilers regarding Westley
#WyldeFlowers lets you a) marry a werewolf and b) scratch him behind his ear which makes him make all sorts of delicious sounds and also wag his tail.
(Yes, I’m on my second playthrough, because I wanted to see how the Westley romance goes if you start it during year one instead of divorcing your first spouse and marrying someone else after that.)

Now I have to decide between 1) plotless grinding with the infrastructure I’ve built and 2) starting up a new game so that I can try out another romance.

You play as Tara Wylde, a woman who, having spent her childhood in the town of Fairhaven and moved to "the city", is now returning home to look after her grandmother.
As you explore the town of Fairhaven after arriving at the dock, you'll find the only flag flying over the mayor's office is a pride flag, and you know this is a queer little game.
As you meet the fine folks of Fairhaven, more than one mystery starts to unfold, and one of these is the discovery that your grandmother is a witch... as are you.
I actually knew something about the game before I started it; I knew it was from a Melbourne-based dev team.
It's why I was a bit taken aback when the entire voice cast appears to be American. Not that there's anything wrong with that, it was just a little unexpected.
It was getting very late when I departed Fairhaven, and I'm looking forward to going back.

I have to say that as a #bi person, I finally feel full #representation coming from a game. #WyldeFlowers has really opened up the field for me. I can choose to romance any of the romanceable characters, and because there's options to date several of them, I can do so without being set on a deterministic path (such as if there's only 2 options available). #Gamedev and #indiedev people, take note!

For learning purposes, I'm exploring how long I will continue to play #WyldeFlowers after the main storyline is completed. But to fully do so, I need to break up with a character, and the emotional connection this game has made me feel to that character is inspiring. I don't want to do it! But I DO want to be able to recreate this feeling in the games I will create.

I've been trying out various games lately. This one is called Wylde Flowers. I am not sure if I like it much yet, but so far this is my favorite thing in the whole game. The fact that I can pet this super cute fact! (That, and a romanceable character named Kai, but unfortunately he has to compete with the cat. Sorry, not sorry) 🐈

24. Wylde Flowers
Juego de granjas, con unos gráficos muy cuquis, en el que jugaremos con Tara, una joven bruja sáfica. Combina el cuidado de la granja con aprender sobre brujería y ligar con medio pueblo. La historia "principal" dura bastante y aun así podremos seguir jugando(vais a querer seguir jugando) para seguir con la historia de los personajes. Además, tienes un montón de señoras bonitas con las que te querrás casar, lástimas tener que elegir y que duro el tener que rechazarlas. Por si esto fuera poco, hay un michi al que puedes acariciar cada vez que le ves y un montón de animales adorables.
He jugado 60h y me ha dado mucha pena que se terminase, le he cogido muchísimo cariño a los personajes, ojalá hubiese durado otras 60h más.
Por cierto, tiene una demo en Steam por si queréis probarlo.

Reading this article made me think of how much I enjoy the excellent #VoiceActing in the #LGBTQ positive game #WyldeFlowers, and how sad I will be if those voice actors cannot find enough work due to #AI taking over everything.
