The Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) is removing the figure of Ariadne from its logo and adopting a simplified identity, as part of a wider rebrand to reflect its broader scope beyond wine. The changes, which were unveiled at the orga…

torn between Italy and Australia — Il Globo
Like many others in the McLaren Vale, Gordon-Smith has grown-up alongside families with an Italian background or migrated from the Belpaese. “Tu vuoi far l’americano, americano, americano, ma sei nato in …

Passed my #WSET 1 exam. Maybe I should pursue wines as a career fall back plan... A gentleman vintner perhaps.

Results from my WSET Level 3 Spirits exam are in: pass with distinction.
Yeah baby! 🍸

Have booked myself in to do my WSET Level 3 Spirits Award later in the year.
It's not cheap, especially as a freelancer, but L2 was totally worth the money so I'm confident I'll get a return from this one too.
Looking forward to nerding out in the classroom again.

I just found out that I passed my WSET 3 sake exam with full distinction, across both theory and tasting.
I worked hard on this and really gave it my all, so I could not be happier!! Time for more sake!! 😁🍶✨

CW: Alcohol - Wine tasting for WSET Level 3
Last night's tasting.
I don't always love Italian reds, they are sometimes too firm, and too medicinal/herbal for me. But this Barolo was pretty great. Soft, a little floral with vanilla and lush ripe cherries, mint, leather, and a hint of minerality.

Yesterday's tasting: Bordeaux and Rhone.
A Chablis Premier Cru, a Sancerre, a Haut-Médoc Cru Borgeois Supérieur, a Saint Emilion Grand Cru & a Châteauneuf du Pape.
These were are great wines. I tend to dislike the strong herbal notes that came through in the Haut-Médoc, but it's still a good wine. The Châteauneuf du Pape was amazing. The Chablis and the Saint Emilion were also pretty spectacular.
This is probably the best group of wines I've had for a tasting yet.

Hello...New account here.
Nice to meet you.
I am a socialist, small-L liberal, feminist with a penchant for science communication, wine and insanely long fantasy books. I appear domesticated due to my love of baking, knitting and cleaning with steam, but I'm actually quite feral.
I plan to open a wine bar in my little town someday.
And I want to live in New Orleans when I retire.
