Well, that wasn't half as difficult for England as I'd been led to believe it might be. As confusing in large parts as I'd expected, though. But, lovely, well done England. World cup winners. Nice ring to it.

Many rules of this code of the sport are difficult for us. In League I think we'd have seen about three dozen knock-on penalties given in a game like this so far. And this penalty advantage that seemingly lasts anywhere up to thirty or so minutes is baffling.

Reminiscing with my missus about the only time we saw a game played at Twickenham but that was one of the #NFL games many years ago. Definitely not a stadium built for 3+ hours of sport because the steep seating and lack of leg-room was excruciatingly painful. The toilets situation and concessions were very poor too. Hopefully those latter two points have improved in the interim for rugby fans.

"It all looks so messy. What's going on there?" asks my wife and I try to explain to her what's happening. However, despite playing rugby union for years at school (a centre, since you asked) I cannot remember the rules regarding mauls and rucks and line-outs so I'm largely making up reasonable-sounding ones instead.

We're League people rather than Union, but England in the final means we're going to jump in and give the game a watch. And for no real reason whatsoever we decided that a good, old-fashioned Snakebite & Black would be the perfect afternoon drinking accompaniment.

Canada vs England final is going to be one hell of a game. I predict a fast, tough and close result. Canada deserves to be in the final. England deserves to as well.
Congrats to our Blackferns for their bronze. France played their hearts out too and never let up. Three cheers to them as well.
The officials need special recognition as well. They were fair in decisions and allowed the game to flow. Thanks to them all.
I've watched most of the games in the tournament and what a momentous performance every team has given for their country. Women's rugby is very much been brought to where it's deserved in world sport by the talent of the players and their coaches. The spirit of the event is a happy, proud and undeniably give it all games of rugby.
My eyes need sleep, but at 4am NZ I'm not going to miss this final.
Good luck to both teams. You are all champions!
