I wanted to go to a colder creek for trout fishing, but with limited time, I went for a nearby creek for warm-water species yesterday 😊
To make things a little more exciting, I pushed through a dense thicket and ended up under the freeway, fishing a stretch I only occasionally visit 😉

Ume receives support from her extended family and other agencies. It would be pointless without Shiomi literally since her goals all involve Shiomi. The temple keeps her spiritually healthy. Hanayome-shin rescues her as well and steps in when she faces financial collapse. [Spoiler] Tome and Kan-chan end up rescue her.

That is the problem with translated words. If I used the term "bread" in my story it would mean almost anything made from wheat flour, including pastaries, buns, and what we call bread. It's why I sometime use the native Japanese words.

But yes my characters have bread: Milk bread, buns, melonpan, etc.

Yes I do. The more significant stuff.

Things I wrote after I got beta readers has held up well. Before that not so well. The beta readers helped but it was also attitude. I mentally moved from a fanfiction writer to a self-published indie. I invested in a few tools for editing at the same time. Finally, They were early works, I was learning basic stuff, learning to recognize when something wasn't going well, working through some "arty" obsessions, and experimenting with things figuring out what worked for me.

My first novel falls in between those phases. It's not bad but I def see lots of things that I would change.

Body language is something as an #author and #writer I strive to include in a story. Much of the emotion and truth in face-to-face conversation is communicated this way, especially if it is heated—and is lost when the conversation is voice- or text-only. I include body language queues to add these qualities to dialogue.

I ran into a mini goldmine on the topic. I'm going to quote items 6 and 7 from /a political pundit blog run by a couple of university professors, so if politics bothers you, please move along to the next toot./

If not, study these gems about how people can telegraph important nuances (good and bad) about their true character or intent. You don't have to read any of the links to level-up your body language writing IQ, but your fun might be doubled if you do.
