Le Guin's style tips and exercises are terrific warm-ups for emerging writers and delivered with a comfortable and fresh voice; for more experienced writers, there is little here not found in other style books.

@az This footage is essential for any writer. Study it. Download it. Hollywood tends to overplay sounds or visuals in things like gunshots and explosions. They are really more like pops or bangs, small sonic booms, instantly over. In this video you see the land, thousands of square miles, simply move with little more fanfare than a rumble. Nature and physics is like that, simple, irresistible, then all done in a heartbeat, death in a wink, thank you very much for witnessing, hope you enjoyed the show, and devastating. Authors need to get this right, because the subtly of an explosion in a pop when parts rain down, or earth movement where cities crumble is more horrific than Hollywood depicts.

#WritersCoffeeClub Ch 16 Nbr 16 — How would you describe the way you create your stories to a non-writer?
I would sit them down and say:
- Do you remember when you were a kid when you would daydream, maybe with your dolls or toys, that you were someone else and pretend to have their adventures?
- Tell me about something interesting that happened recently to you or someone you know.
- Now daydream again like a kid, pretend it happened to you or someone you know, and instead of retelling what happened aloud, either write it down without the "um"s and "you know"s or dictate it to your phone.
Like that.

#AmWriting Ok so after a quick revisit of the first two chapters of my #Fallout4 fanfic, I have found the third a bit of a stop-start affair. In short, the flow has gone for now. I’m pleased with what I’ve done so far (well, mostly) but I find myself starting to reach a point where pantsing isn’t going to cut it. Do I stick with winging it which has worked so far or do I stop and start planning where this is going? Would appreciate #WriterAdvice 🤔
