I do find it hard to believe that the Reliant's sensors wouldn't have noticed that one of the planets was missing, and the orbits of the other planets were askew.

Hard to overlook that one.

I finished #StarTrek #TheAnimatedSeries and took a break from my #AllTrekWatch by ... rewatching #LowerDecks and #StrangeNewWorlds (not, like, the combined six seasons, just finishing a rewatch of #LD and then the final episode launched me directly into the first episode of #SNW so I watched the first season of that)

BUT NOW! it's time for The Wrath of Khan, which I have technically seen, but literally all I remember from it was Kirk yelling "KHAAAAANNN", but honestly I might only remember that bc of pop culture, sooo ...

back a million years ago, a local theater was playing Wrath of Khan, and some friends talked me into going with them. since I'd never watched Star Trek before, I have retained exactly zero of this movie

I still feel a little silly for not having realized earlier than, like, season 4 of #TNG that Noonien Soongh is a different person than Khan Noonien-Singh. another issue with having started out of order ... when I started my TNG watch, all I knew about Khan (besides that there was a movie about him) was what was in #StrangeNewWorlds. I also didn't have a very good grasp on the timeline of the different series (including the 100-year gap)

I always thought the exact phrase "Revenge is a dish best served cold" was a quote from The Godfather, but it's actually a "Klingon proverb" (according to Khan) from Star Trek II "The Wrath of Khan"!

The phrase has been around in different similar shapes since maybe the 18th century, originally probably from a French quote, but the Star Trek phrasing is the one I hear the most, and probably nobody who uses it knows that's where it's from!

The Godfather has it as "Revenge is a dish that tastes best when it is cold".
