  1. What does the #greentransition look like for the #regulation of #internationaltrade.

For years, the #WorldTradeOrganisation has been working to reduce non tariff barriers (NTBs) (often trying to turn them into tariffs to make them 'economic').

However, given the reporting & assessment requirements linked to many #green trade regulations what we are now seeing a rise in NTBs, suggesting for firms trading paperwork is going to get more intensive & mandatory for trading!

  2. Another year, another set of calls to reform the #WorldTradeOrganisation....

But, it seems to me that quite a lot of the problem with the #WTO, is like a well known saying about the trails of the League of Nations in the early C20th.

The organisation has not so much failed its members, as its members have failed the organisation....

There are certainly aspects of the WTO rules that are problematic, but its the states members that have often caused the WTO to be less than straightforward!

  3. EU hopes to overcome US opposition to WTO ‘court’ as key summit nears

Ahead of a key summit of members of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) in Abu Dhabi at the end of February, the EU hopes to reform the organisation’s “dispute settlement mechanism”, a court-like institution paralysed by the USA.
