Hotel checkout time rarely corresponds to flight time. That’s to say, we arrived at #SFO over four hours before our flight’s boarding time.

Boarded for flight 25 of #WorldTour2025 heading to SF. I will say that first class on a 777 is way better than on a 737, which is the other option flying Kona to SF. I’m not sure facing backwards is going to be my jam.

I just want to point out that these two confections plus the two lattes cost €5,60 (or about $6.20 US). At home a latte alone is almost that much!

There was a six hour layover in Seattle and three in London. A baby next to me on Seattle->London that couldn’t settle at all kept me from sleeping 🥹🥹🤯
After we got to the apartment I took that photo and crashed slept 15+ hours!!

Bom dia! We made it to Faro (Portugal) for a three week visit yesterday.
Hawaii to Portugal with no real breaks in between flights is a killer—6 hours Kona to Seattle, 9 hours Seattle to London, 3 hours London to Faro. But worth it to explore the Algarve in real depth.

And of course the gate we eventually got was essentially the farthest from where we were sitting.

We’re in Heathrow waiting for a flight and this is yet another airport that won’t post gate assignments until an hour before the flight departure.
Portugal does this too, I’m sure plenty of other airports do as well, but not America, Australia, or AoNZ.
I really don’t like this practice and I have yet to hear a reason for it. All I can think of is this reduces the need for seating at gates. But I’m over 60 and we don’t walk fast, rushing to get to it just frustrates me.

We’ve walked around downtown #SF the last two days and I have to say I don’t know what people are talking about. Have hardly seen any houseless people, less than 10 certainly, and the streets are really clean too!

Last flight of this trip, yay! 16th of the year with eight more in the next two months. Living in Hawaii can be amazing but flying anywhere not on the West Coast means multiple flights in each direction.

Visited the Capela dos Ossos - the Chapel of Bones - this afternoon. That’s a literal name as the walls and ceiling are covered with the bones of hundreds or thousands of monks from down the centuries!
Don’t get me wrong, I totally respect the men who gave themselves so fully to their beliefs. And the church to which the chapel is attached is a lovely example of craftsmanship too.

I don’t know why but we didn’t get TSA Pre on our boarding passes and man that was an unnecessary half hour!
And let’s just say that the train from the rental car station to the terminal let us off literally as far from our gate as I believe is possible at #MiA. Such fun 🥶

We made it to Melbourne yesterday. I was right about the mistake but we did finally get the second rental and get to the (very nice) St. Kilda hotel.
Today we visited the Jewish Museum of Australia. Highly recommended!

Another 216km done, Albury to Seymour. Seymour? Yup! Driving here and in New Zealand has been good, not much traffic or near crashes from the right hand drive. 🤣🤣
Another 100km left to Melbourne.
I did make one mistake 🥶. When we switched the itinerary I rented a car for this past week as we already had a car reserved for the two weeks in Melbourne. I should’ve cancelled the two week res and made this for all three but instead I need to change cars at the airport today.

Had a lovely drive from Liverpool to Canberra today, about 138 miles through green countryside. Arrived a bit early for check in so we had lunch at the hotel restaurant. The special was barramundi in a sauce, so good!
