At current trends, the target will only be reached in 2063.

#TB caused 1⃣.0⃣1⃣ to 1⃣.0⃣8⃣ million people to die in 2023/2024👎 (#GBDstudy, WHO).

  15. #Tuberculosis is often described as a disease of the past. It isn’t.
Every year, millions fall ill and over a million people die, making TB still the deadliest bacterial infection.

We’re proud to contribute to TB research, from discovering the drug candidate BTZ-043 to advancing it towards a potential new treatment.
But on #WorldTBDay, we also honour the foundations: We recently named a seminar room after pioneering microbiologist Ruth Ella Moore, who worked on TB in the early 20th century.

  39. To find new molecules to treat tuberculosis as well as obesity, we participate in a Sinergia project with the University of Geneva and ETH Zürich to integrate heterogenous in silico bio and chemical data including a 15,500+ plant 🌱🪴🌿 library to enable their sharing.

Our team is finalising the knowledge graph integrating these vast amounts of data to enable queries and subsequent data analysis. A big step toward accelerating data-driven drug discovery!
