  3. Part of the difficulty is when you have no point of reference. No one you know who’s been through the same.

If this is something you’re going through (or have been through recently) and want to talk about it, my DMs are open.

  4. One thing I’ll remember for a long time is when a lm obstetrician sat my wife and I down in a hallway and told us that we had to “get used to the idea that you’re going to have a premature baby”.

It can be rough (born at 30 weeks), but we have been incredibly lucky.

  13. It’s #WorldPrematurityDay Every year, 15 million babies are born too soon. Too small. Too early. And far too vulnerable to life-threatening complications. But with the right care, most preterm and low birth weight babies survive. They can go on to thrive and lead wonderful lives bit.ly/43NzUH8

  20. Today 17 Nov marks #WorldPrematurityDay

At 99nicu, we are committed to contributing to this important cause. Preterm birth remains one of the leading causes of neonatal mortality and long-term health issues. However, with the right care, many of these tiny infants can survive and thrive.

  27. Today is #WorldPrematurityDay. In the U.S., one in ten babies are born early. But it can be an incredibly isolating and emotional time. That's why I wanted to make this book -- to help you feel a little less alone. mhpbooks.com/books/what-we-did

  32. CW: world prematurity day preterm cerebral palsy

The night he was born, when I was in the neonatal unit, awaiting a transfusion and not knowing where my son was in the hospital, I googled every premmie/preemie success story I could find. And they helped me hugely. But deep down I knew they wouldn’t be my son’s story. Telling stories like his matters. His path is not the same, but he is my inspiration. Every single day. #worldprematurityday #cerebralpalsy

Today is #worldprematurityday. 10.5 years ago my son was unexpectedly born at 28 weeks. He spent 6 weeks in 2 neonatal units. So many WPD posts start like this and then offer truly inspirational accounts of the young person’s achievements in sports, business and other arenas. But not all premmies/preemies outgrow their prematurity. My son is one such person. He is incredible, funny, smart and amazing and I wouldn’t have him any other way #cerebralpalsy
