I submitted an entry to the 2026 Fight for Kindness typographic poster exhibition for the observance of World Kindness Day on November 13.
The theme of “kindness towards oneself” was perfect for a quote from my friend Karin that has lived rent-free in my head for over a year.

A chain of volunteers, almost entirely strangers, formed the Puppy Express to get a dog across the USA to her new home! What a magical tale for #WorldKindnessDay:
After the unexpected death of a family member which left behind a dog who needed a home, social media channel BlueSky came to the rescue!
@catvalente.bsky.social 's child had been wanting a dog but Catherynne was holding off because they didn’t have the capacity for a puppy - but a 2 year old husky isn’t a puppy!

The 13th November is #WorldKindnessDay. All around the world it is celebrated in different ways, from festivals to activities in schools, from personal actions to business initiatives. As a kindness cheerleader myself, this day has become a Big Deal in my annual calendar.
If truth be told, I used to feel slightly conflicted about it, because to me every day should be kindness day. However, on balance I have decided it is a good thing to have this focal point that people can gather around.
