For #WorldGinDay, finishing off with a White Lady after reading @libationlegacy’s posts earlier.
For some reason the egg whites never stay very stiff in these.
Is it because the 80 proof Cointreau and a properly high proof London dry gin (like Tanqueray) make for an ABV that the proteins in the egg white just can’t stand up to?🤷♂️
Even with less than perfect texture it’s still a delicious drink.

Happy #WorldGinDay -- which coincides with a tangent my research has taken, the story behind a once well-known cocktail named the White Lady. The Wikipedia page for this drink mentions that it was named after "Eveline Alice Wander Gorkiewicz", who was serving in Turkey as a nurse during WWI. I've seen this repeated in many other sources, and want to discuss the problems with this factoid.
