  1. There are more than 20 THOUSAND species of bees in the world. They all have different habitats, diets, habits, sizes, colours... Some live off a variety of flowers and others are highly specialised.

    Some of these wild species produce honey, most don't ! Domesticated honey bees are only a few species, mostly Apis mellifera. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honey_bee

    In Europe there are about 2000 species, in hexagonal France we have a thousand of them. The US host 4000 :)

    Apis mellifera aren't great pollinators and they compete with wild bees for food; so we don't need more honey bees, we need more of wild pollinators, of every kind. Which means : diverse NATIVE plants/flowers to accommodate their various needs (some exotic flowers won't hurt but they can't support the ecosystem the way native species do) and whole preserved habitats, as free of harmful substances as possible.
