Today marks the beginning of World Alzheimer's Month. Sir Terry Pratchett was a patron of Alzheimer's Research UK and had a form of Alzheimer's himself.
At this year's #DiscworldConvention, we raised over £30,000 for three charities -- including Alzheimer's Society!

This #WorldAlzheimersMonth I'm sharing a pic a day from my Memory Seed Bomb series. Dedicated to those lost to memory disorders, each painting is a forget-me-not seed bomb based on a specific person and a simple memory or association provided by their family. Designed to be planted, the painting fades and dissolves, but lives on in the flowers that sprout from it.
This one is for my mom, whose favorite drink was Diet Coke.

My heart. #FTD, and other forms of #dementia, are so cruel, "merciless," to quote from this devastating article. This sentence, written by the mother of Anna, who at 36 developed symptoms of #bvFTD (behavioral #variant FTD), spoke to me loudly: "I didn’t cope, I existed." https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/then-knew-something-very-wrong-150000846.html

@edsuom. It's #worldalzheimersmonth and an excellent opportunity for the #media to spend (more) time covering the #research on #COVID and #brain health. Perhaps if more people knew about the links that #scientists are discovering between #COVID and #dementia symptoms, more people would mask.

#FindingTheRightWords turns 2 today. Here I am w/my co-author #Dr.BruceMiller, a #doctor whose #empathy, #knowledge, and #generosity knows no bounds. That my father died of #early-onset #Alzheimer's couldn't be changed, but writing the #memoir w/ Bruce changed me, helping to put that experience of profound fragmentation (my father's; mine) into something a little more whole. W/so much gratitude to Bruce and the many #neurologists working to #EndAlz always and esp. during #worldalzheimersmonth
