  1. I've been thinking a lot about the idea of non-duality. If we are truly one with Earth, do we simultaneously feel within us the struggles that the planet is enduring right now? Are my feelings of overwhelm and hopelessness a mirror image of what Earth is experiencing? Can this connection birth strategies to help us collectively heal? What are your thoughts?

  2. @dudinka Check out workthatreconnects.org/. It's the work of Joanna Macy, eco-philosopher and systems theorist. If you check your location, you may find programs near you. They are also available online. You can also check the podcast We Are The Great Turning. WTR traverses gratitude, honoring our pain, seeing with new eyes and going forth (bringing change) Good stuff. #workthatreconnects

I found a place to start a local Work that Reconnects community of practice! WTR does just that; it helps us to see and feel our place as an interdependent part of the world around us. It connects us back to the earth and lets us see that we are part of, not above, other beings. In a world of polycrisis, it offers direction. It's great for climate activist burnout. I can't wait to share it with my local community! #climate

  4. #threegoodthings #3goodthings 1. I took time for myself last night and wrote out a thank you note to someone who attended my #workthatreconnects program last week; she sent one first. 2. Sent a card (with turtle and frog stickers!) to an #actuallyautistic friend who is struggling and feeling alone. 3. Realized that every week I make a list and do the essential things, but not the uplifting things. Changing that this week. #community

  5. #workthatreconnects #joannamacy #sustainability #EmergentStrategies I offered a Work that Reconnects class yesterday for 15 people called Honoring our Pain for the World. We started in gratitude and then had space for speaking our pain: personal, national, global & ecological. People provided compassionate witnessing. It was powerful to put words to the grief, build community and realize we are not alone. We have to work together to make change, especially now.

  6. I'm really excited. I have a Work that Reconnects program set up nearby in February for 15 people. It's a group of new climate activists. We'll be covering the whole spiral: gratitude, honoring our pain, seeing with new and ancient eyes, and going forth. Looking to set one up here in two in the next few weeks, just for friends, so I can run through the scheduled program and fine-tune it. #workthatreconnects #climateaction #climate #climatechange

  7. @Typy I am fascinated by the life's work of Joanna Macy. She is an eco-philosopher and Buddhist scholar who developed an experiential format for rediscovering our innate connection with our natural environment. Spoiler: she wants the planet and creatures to survive. #workthatreconnects #joannamacy

  8. I'm contemplating putting something together for Jan 20. I want to have a gathering that day for like-minded folks to chat about ways to keep our hearts and humanity intact in the coming years. I'll include WTR, mindfulness, grief and grounding practices. I think firming our commitment to community right now is the way forward. I'd love to hear your thoughts. Is this something you would attend? #workthatreconnects #GriefWork #climate #climateaction #community #resilience

  9. I’ve been giving a lot of thought to grief as a transformative property. It’s not a new concept. Grief can freeze us, causing stagnation & loss of connection. Our discomfort with grief causes us to flee its presence. What if we could look at it and learn from it? Climate grief, election grief, etc. are powerful because they honor our love for things. Let’s start looking at them and learning. What might emerge? #Grief #EmergentStrategies #workthatreconnects #empowerment #thoughts #climate

  10. #EarthGratitude #Climate #climateaction #nature #workthatreconnects #JoannaMacy It’s easy in the day to day to take things for granted and forget how lucky we really are. Please take a second and share your answer to this question, and if you’d be so kind, please boost for visibility. ☮️ and ❤️to all! Please complete the following. “One thing I love about being alive on Earth is…” #Gratitude

  12. #workthatreconnects #resilience #climate #climatechange #sustainability #nature “We need the capacity to sit in the fire with overwhelming threats and stay conscious, stay in our bodies and act with courage and imagination in the service of the good, in the service of the entire human family.” ~ Victor Lee Lewis 🌳🐘🐛🌍. I would change this to include the more than human families as well. #quotes

  13. #environment #workthatreconnects #joannamacy #climateaction #climate #climatechange ”The courage to listen to our conscience and live our own truth is integral to joining, rather than merging, with the larger circles of life we belong to. ~John Seed, rainforest activist

  14. “Our deepest fears are the dragons that guard our greatest treasures.” ~Rainer Marie Rilke. How do we stay grounded in a scary world? As we face a changing climate, don’t stay safely in the dread. Be tender with your fear. We can’t wait until we have the answers. Speak with sacred outrage. Speak out on behalf of the human and more than human lives. #Climate #climatechange #workthatreconnects #climateaction

  15. John Seed is an Australian environmentalist who is part of the Deep Ecology movement. He once faced workers who attempted to bulldoze parts of the rainforest in New South Wales. I love his beautiful self realization of his actions. #deepecology #workthatreconnects #climate #climatechange #environment

  16. “If the world is to be healed through human efforts, I am convinced it will be by ordinary people, people whose love for this life is even greater than their fear.” ~Joanna Macy #joannamacy #workthatreconnects #sustainability #climatechange #environment
