  1. 10 years ago while freelancing I started working on a charter for a software consultancy cooperative, where the staff owns the company and participates in all its decisions democratically. Now as more and more of us face #AI in the workplace and have trouble finding #noAI jobs elsewhere, I'm wondering whether this project can be revived with a sort of non-AI focus. Granted, we'll have to keep the #noAI manifesto offline for now, otherwise our current employers will discover our dislike for the "technology" they're forcing us to implement before we can get a revenue-stream off the ground and go all-in with the new company. #WorkerCooperative #WorkerOwnedCooperative #coops github.com/lorddev/devlords-org

  3. I'm wondering what's involved in setting up a worker-run cooperative and keeping it running; who here as experience working in such a cooperative?

What were you doing? How did it go? Did it pull in enough money to pay the bills? What were the conflicts in organizing it? Do you still work there? What were the major challenges? Was anything surprising about the process of it all?

    Boosts very appreciated!

  5. I wanted to share some worker cooperative content I've been writing over the past months. Basically a reflection of how being in a democratic organization has helped me reflect on past work experiences.

(If you want to interact with me you can easily find my email. Unfortunately I can't handle a barrage of political news, so I stay away from social media. So I guess this is asocial media?)

  7. We need to have a lot more discussion about a longer term path towards becoming a worker cooperative. And providing support to get there.

There are details around financing, legal structure, startup vs existing, decision making, and more that have to get solved. This stuff takes time and in some cases a certain scale.

  12. My newest #substack article in a long-winded series about my ideas for the concept of a #WorkerCooperative MLM designed for #DisposablePeople like me who struggle with traditional employment due to #MentalIllness or physical challenges or societal #marginalization.

"Capital gains at any cost on a quarterly balance sheet seems as much a madness as a tumor depleting the resources until the rapid, uncontrolled expansion kills both it and the host."

  20. I’ve been in the #workercooperative space for literally ones of months. On the Dunning Krueger scale I’ve reached the pinnacle of confidence.

That’s why there is no doubt in my mind that more consulting firms should consider organizing as #coops.

Consulting is a business where the link between workers’ labor and revenue is obvious. It also requires very little capital for startup and has low overhead, making it simpler to get rolling.
