  5. ๐Ÿš€ Behold, the mind-blowing revelation that science fiction writer Robert J. Sawyer still clings to #WordStar like a beloved, ancient artifact while the rest of the world moved on without him. Apparently, his keyboard is a time machine stuck in 1996, but hey, at least itโ€™s plug-and-play for Windows! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ”Œ

I am proud with the fact that I 'wasted' my teenage years with MS-DOS, Windows 3.11, Netware, WordStar, Lotus123 and some other fantastic software.

  20. New post: WordStar: the pre-Microsoft Word days

WordStar was the hand I was dealt when I started working with computers back in the 1980s. It was also probably the cheapest word processor on the market, knowing my boss

  29. Today, there are many choices of software for writing. Word, Scrivener, Focuswriter, Final Draft, Obsidian, etc. Even so, there are diehards who wonโ€™t give up their pens, pencils, typewriters, or old school software. George R. R. Martin, for instance, has stuck with using WordStar 4.0 on MS-DOS. medium.com/@estavillo/the-writ #GeorgeRRMartin #WordStar #WritingSoftware 13/14

  34. I take an interest in what people think is "before the internet", as people seem to have widely differing notions, but this is a novel twist to me.

Nice article about Michael J Fox's new memoir, but 1985 was neither pre-internet nor *pre-word processor*. For example, WarGames in its initial scene setting was a reasonably accurate film portrayal of what you could do with a modem in 1983, and WordStar launched in 1978.
