Generally I prefer words but for the reasons cited I totally agree that icons should be a selectable option - so long as they are correctly spaced out and consistent.
(Unlike the nonsensical array of idiotic pictographs on food packaging these days.)

Supposed to be writing this afternoon, but three nights out on the trot have turned my brain to a woolly mush so instead I'm searching up reference images for the illustrations. Having a flatplan to work from makes this job much easier. And right now, easy is exactly what I need.
