@thurrott Why didn't they just keep #WordPad for this if their intention is to turn #Notepad into a glorified #wordprocessor? I personally just want it as a simple text editor. Another thing I hate, is every time I launch it, it pops up an annoying notification bubble that gets in the way.

Earlier I had a #dream that I was using #WindowsVista #WordPad to write something for a class or something and its autocorrect feature kept pinking random letters to fade in and out and change into other letters. I got annoyed by it so I turned it off and the letters faded back to what they should be.

They want you to pay for MS Word. You don't have to. Install LibreOffice and you've got a compatible office suite for free. been using it for years. I'd also recommend switching to #LinuxMint if you can.

Listening to Mental Outlaw reminisce about #wordpad reminds me of how upset I was that #windows discontinued briefcases starting at #windows8. I refused to upgrade from #windows7 to #windows10 mainly because I liked briefcases so much, and it partially fueled my first experimentation with #linux.
Looking back on it, cloud storage is better than briefcases in every conceivable way, and I'm not quite sure why I felt so strongly about this.
