  1. Why Are You Going To Fools For Advice?

    Daily Devotional

Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet

Why Are You Going To Fools For Advice?

“Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible,
to God who alone is wise
be honor and glory forever and ever.”
    1st Timothy 1:17

…to God who alone is wise

Human nature is to put confidence in the “wise” men of this world – the big-name newsmen, commentators, teachers and college professors, psychologists and counselors, authors of books, and on and on – not ever understanding that God tells us that the wisdom of this world is FOOLISHNESS.

“For the wisdom of this world
    is foolishness with God.”
    1st Corinthians 3:19

So why are you going to fools for advice?

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God,
who gives to all liberally and without reproach,
and it will be given to him.”
    James 1:5

Seek your help from your Creator who alone is wise. Bring to him your every care and let him advise you. His wisdom is the only wisdom you can trust.

    Pray with me:
Father, our human nature is so opposite from your Word. I ask you to please help me get my attention off from “experts,” men and women who are often wrong, SO wrong, and to focus instead on what you have presented to us from your Word. I value your Word above anything the “experts” would have us believe.

  2. I Love Israel: 2,000-Year-Old Discovery in Israel Reveals Lost Community

While the rest of the world has been busy with political, economic and military developments, something very tremendous happened recently in Israel, and it is about a 2,000-year-old discovery that reveals a lost community and it further proves the Jewish heritage in the Holy Land is real, according to a news article by CBN News. The discovery is also a reminder about John’s baptisms.

To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the CBN News article. Some parts in boldface.

A 2,000-year-old archaeological marvel has been unearthed in southern Israel, revealing a mysterious community lost to time and the latest proof of the ancient Jewish connection to the Holy Land.

The major discovery took place in Kiryat Gat, near the site of the ancient Philistine city of Gath, where Goliath came from.

The find, a mikveh ritual immersion pool, provides evidence of a Jewish community that remained in the region following the destruction of the Second Temple in 70 AD and persisted until the Bar Kokhba revolt – the final Jewish rebellion against the Roman Empire.

The mikveh was used for spiritual purification or holiness, which the Bible refers to in the book of Leviticus, and its discovery is a reminder of a Second Temple-era tradition that’s linked to the introduction of Christians baptisms.

Israeli tour guide Yoav Rotem tells CBN News, “These are the roots of the baptism of John… John the Baptist… Going from Leviticus through Judaism of the Second Temple time all the way to John the Baptist and Jesus, these are the roots, and they’re still in the ground.”

To preserve the mikveh, the Israel Antiquities Authority dug up the entire ritual bath and removed it from the site.

Rotem argues that this discovery is the latest archaeological proof that the Jewish population wasn’t entirely absent from the region after the Romans tried to wipe them out. While some uninformed anti-Israel activists claim the Jews just popped up and took over the holy land in 1948, Rotem says the Jews have clear ties to the land that are constantly being unearthed.

He also cited historical letters, the Cairo Geniza archive of 400,000 ancient manuscripts in Hebrew, Aramaic and Arabic, that provide further proof, in addition to the many substantial, ongoing archaeological discoveries of ancient Jewish presence in the land.

“There’s a huge amount of information from historical information to archaeological to letters between rabbis, of Jewish appearance (or presence)… The Jews are still alive after 70 (AD). Some of them, minorities, staying in the land, a lot of Jews moving to the Galilee,” he explained.

For additional insight, watch the CBN News YouTube video below.

To all my readers, I encourage you to thank the Lord for this tremendous breakthrough in Israel. No matter what the anti-Israel activists say, the ancient Jewish heritage in the land of Israel is absolutely real backed with physical pieces of evidence and ancient diggings achieved. Clearly, Israel is the land of Jews, not the Palestinians.

At the same time, I encourage you all to realize the truth that Israel is the land God designated specifically for the Jewish people (read Genesis 35:10-12) and His command must be followed without hesitation. If you want to be blessed further by the Lord, do so by loving and blessing the Jewish people (Genesis 12:1-3). I did my part when I was in Israel. Also, let me remind you all that the ties between the Jews and Christians are truly biblical!

I encourage you all to pray to the Lord God in support of Israel, to love and bless the Jewish people, and pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

If you truly believe in Lord Jesus, the Holy Spirit and God the Heavenly Father wholeheartedly and you continue to be faithful, you should be aware that Christians are meant to stand united with Israel and love the Jewish people no matter what. You can do your part supporting Israel by donating to Christians United for Israel (CUFI). Do not forget to read the Holy Bible, then pray in tongues to the Lord in the privacy of your room with the door shut.

Always be the fearless and aggressive church of Lord Jesus!

  4. I Love Israel: Israeli Researchers Develop Aerogel Capable of Capturing and Breaking Down Oil Spills

A major breakthrough happened in Israel where researchers of Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (BGU) developed aerogel that is capable of capturing and breaking down oil spills, according to a feature article by The Jerusalem Post. This breakthrough could improve Israel’s way of protecting the natural environment and solving problems caused by oil spills.

To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the article of The Jerusalem Post. Some parts in boldface.

Oil spills occur regularly around the world, but large, catastrophic disasters are much less common than small, everyday leaks.

Thousands of minor spills happen every year during routine tasks like refueling ships, pipeline leaks, or equipment failures on land. In the 1970s, there were between 70 and 100 large tanker spills annually. Fortunately, major marine spills from tanker accidents have dropped by more than 90% since the 1970s, with fewer than 10% per year.

Spills actually occur more frequently on land near storage tanks, industrial sites, and pipelines, but these get more attention because they spread fast and harm fragile ocean and coastal habitats.

Nature is also responsible – the single largest source of oil entering the oceans isn’t human error at all; it is natural seepage from rocks on the seafloor, accounting for about 40% to 50% of all oceanic oil.

Israelis probably remember February 2021, when its most severe and prominent modern disaster – a massive undisclosed spill (estimated at dozens to hundreds of tons of crude oil) sent heavy black tar washing ashore. It contaminated roughly 160 kilometers of Israel’s 195-km. coastline, from Rosh Hanikra to Ashkelon, severely harming marine wildlife like sea turtles and birds. They recall seeing masses of seabirds covered in tar and dying as a result of the environmental catastrophe.

But now, researchers at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (BGU) in Beersheba are the first to develop a technology that captures and biologically breaks down oil pollution, treating crude oil and fuel pollution in marine and aquatic environments – a promising approach to both immediate containment and long-term environmental recovery.

The BGU technology is aimed at both the immediate capture of hydrocarbons and their longer-term degradation. Lab experiments showed that the material can adsorb approximately 80 to 100 times its own mass in crude oil, fuel, tar, and other hydrocarbons.

It was developed in the university’s Environmental Biotechnology Laboratory, led by Prof. Ariel Kushmaro and Dr. Danit Lisa Karsagi Biron of BGU’s Faculty of Engineering.

They created a porous aerogel made from cellulose fibers – that could be created from used egg cartons, old newspapers, and other paper materials – enriched with nitrogen and phosphorus. These nutrients support oil-degrading bacteria, making it possible for the material not only to capture pollutants but also to speed their subsequent biological breakdown.

The research team said they developed the aerogel using nutrient enrichment, freeze-drying, and pyrolysis (the thermal decomposition of organic materials at high temperatures – typically 300°C to 900°C) in the absence of oxygen, which prevents combustion.

Kushmaro told The Jerusalem Post in an interview that the aerogel provides a surface on which the bacteria can attach, bringing them into close contact with both the adsorbed hydrocarbons and the nutrients they require. In this way, the system creates conditions that support the microbial breakdown of the captured pollutants.

The process can even minimize the need to remove and dispose of contaminated adsorption material after treatment. The technology is currently undergoing patent recognition through BGN Technologies, BGU’s technology commercialization company.

To all my readers, I encourage you to thank the Lord for this scientific breakthrough achieved by Israeli researchers. Even though it has been attacked militarily and through misinformation campaigns by its enemies, Israel continues to be a world leader on technology and economics. Indeed, God has a plan for Israel to be the guiding light for the world. The aerogel developed by Israel’s researchers will pave the way to protecting the natural environment better and help affected communities recover faster from oil spills. Soon enough, other nations will want to have Israel’s breakthrough for the same reasons. It is just a matter of time.

5. I Love Israel: Manila-Tel Aviv Direct Flights to Launch in January 2027

Starting January 3, 2027, direct flights between Manila and Tel Aviv will launch with Israeli airline Arkia in-charge of the service, according to a news report by the Manila Bulletin. For many Filipinos who desired to visit the Holy Land in Israel, this is a dream that will come true and the new route is the first non-stop air link between the two major cities.

To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the news report of the Manila Bulletin. Some parts in boldface.

Filipinos can soon fly directly to Israel without making a stopover, as Israeli airline Arkia prepares to launch the first nonstop flights between Manila and Tel Aviv in January 2027.

The new route will begin on Jan. 3, 2027, with an initial service of one flight a week and a travel time of about 11 hours, according to Israeli Ambassador to the Philippines Dana Kursh.

For years, travelers between the Philippines and Israel have had to take connecting flights, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi among the main stopover points, while other options include connections through New Delhi, Bangkok, Seoul, and other Asian cities.

The new service will therefore provide the first nonstop air link between Manila and Tel Aviv.

Kursh welcomed the development in a Facebook post on Tuesday, Sept. 8, saying the route would bring the two countries closer after years without a direct connection.

“For the first time in many years, our two countries will be connected by a direct flight, bringing Israel and the Philippines closer than ever before,” she said.

The Israeli envoy said the new air link would go beyond making travel more convenient, as it could also open more opportunities for tourism, business, investment, and cultural exchanges.

“This is much more than a new flight route,” Kursh said.

“It is a bridge between our peoples, creating new opportunities for tourism, business, investment and cultural exchange, while making it easier for Israelis and Filipinos to discover each other’s beautiful countries,” she added.

The Department of Transportation had earlier pushed for direct flights between the Philippines and Israel, with officials saying improved air connectivity would help strengthen bilateral ties.

Kursh said she looked forward to welcoming more Israeli visitors to the Philippines while encouraging more Filipinos to discover Israel.

“I look forward to welcoming many more Israeli visitors to the Philippines and to seeing even more Filipinos discovering the beauty, diversity and warmth of Israel,” she said.

To all my readers, I encourage you to thank the Lord for this breakthrough of cooperation between Israel and the Philippines. Ambassador Dana Kursh is absolutely right by stating that the direct Manila-Tel Aviv air link is the bridge between Filipinos and the Israelis who will benefit from the new opportunities for tourism, business, investment and cultural exchange. For Filipinos who desire to visit the Holy Land to discover the holy sites, witness the Holy Bible come to life and deepen their faith in the Lord, the direct flights are absolutely golden.

I personally have a desire to return to Israel someday to spend quality with the Lord right there in the Holy Land. I love Israel and I believe strong in the biblical ties between Jews and Christians.

I encourage you all to pray to the Lord for this breakthrough to lead to more breakthroughs for both Filipinos and Israelis.

At the same time, I encourage you all to realize the truth that Israel is the land God designated specifically for the Jewish people (read Genesis 35:10-12) and His command must be followed without hesitation. 7. It’s in the Blood

In 1539, a fugitive former-priest-turned-Anabaptist, in his seminal work “The Foundation,” penned the following words:

“Christ is our fortress; patience our weapon of defense; the Word of God our sword. …Iron and metal spears and swords we leave to those who, alas, regard human blood and swine’s blood of well-nigh equal value.”

So said Menno Simons, principal leader of the Protestant sect which then became known as the Mennonites.

More than 500 years later, his words still resound with a mighty truth.

At the risk of sounding morbid, it has to do with blood.

While Menno specifically refers to the difference between human blood and that of an animal, his larger point is the “value” we place on the blood of another.

    My point is quite simple.

Killing will not end through education, conflict resolution, or disarmament, though all of these are important and can help. Killing will end only when there is a fundamental shift in the mind and heart of those who kill.

For how can you kill someone if you believe that their blood is just as valuable as your own?

Let’s call it – for lack of a better term – bloodism.

The other – their humanity, life, blood – is somehow less than I, and therefore, their humanity, life, blood, is not as valuable as my own. It becomes quite easy then to justify killing the other, ie. spilling his/her blood.

The directors of death throughout history from every nation, tribe and religion have understood and disseminated this concept quite well. A person (and those like him/her) is described as having the wrong beliefs, the wrong skin color, the wrong gender, the wrong age, the wrong station in life, the wrong land, the wrong possessions, the wrong clothing, the wrong language —- the wrong blood. These others are not as valued as you are, the leaders of the macabre scream, though they couch their speech in terms such as vigilance, freedom, history, security, and truth.

    Then the killing begins.

The Nazis did it to the Jews. Israelis do it to the Palestinians. Hutus did it to the Tutsis. Shiite do it to the Sunni. Palestinians do it to the Israelis. Sunni do it to the Shiite. Muslims do it to the Christians. Christians do it to the Muslims. This country does it to that country. That neighborhood does it to this neighborhood. This race does it to that race. That religion does it to this religion.

And any one of a million other combinations.

    STOP!

Do not allow your mind and heart to be filled with bloodism.

We are made in the image of God.

    ALL of us.

And that divine DNA resides in the very marrow of our bones and flows through our veins.

    It’s in the blood.

  8. If Wisdom Isolates You Are You Willing To Walk Alone?

    Articles For The Christian Reader

    Serving the Body of Christ…

If Wisdom Isolates You Are You Willing To Walk Alone?

    “When wisdom enters your heart,
and knowledge is pleasant to your soul,
discretion will preserve you, understanding will keep you,
to deliver you from the way of evil,
from the man who speaks perverse things,
from those who leave the paths of uprightness
to walk in the ways of darkness, who rejoice in doing evil,
and delight in the perversity of the wicked;”
    Proverbs 2:10-14

    “When wisdom ENTERS your heart…”

We are not born with wisdom. And in the perverse world we live in, one will not obtain wisdom from it because the world IS perverse. The Scripture says that this world is under the dominion of Satan.

“But even if our gospel is veiled,
it is veiled to those who are perishing,
whose minds the god of this world has blinded,
    2nd Corinthians 4:4

“We know that we are of God,
and the whole world lies in wickedness.”
    1st John 5:19

The world is devoid of wisdom.

Your counselors will tell you things you want to hear and they will sound right, but are not. Your professors will speak with an air of authority, but their authority comes from the world which opposes the wisdom of God.

“For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God.”
    1st Corinthians 3:19

Wisdom can only enter your heart if you SEEK it from its author, the creator of the universe who alone defines it.

It’s not innate, it has to be sought. It has to be asked for.

“Yes, if you CRY OUT for discernment,
and LIFT UP YOUR VOICE for understanding,
if you SEEK her as silver,
and search for her as for hidden treasures,
then you will understand the fear of the Lord,
and find the knowledge of God.”
    Proverbs 2:3-5:

The Scriptures tell us that wisdom is directly related to “the fear of the Lord,” not a popular virtue these days and certainly not politically correct. As the days advance and the time of the end draws near, the masses will abide in the philosophies of the world which are contrary to the wisdom of God. It won’t be easy to remain in the “fear of the Lord,” because “the wisdom of the world” will constantly push back against us, trying in every which way to overcome us. Cry out therefore for discernment, lift up your voice in prayers for true understanding, because the voices of the world will surround you calling to you loudly, attempting to draw you in. It will cause divisions in families and it will destroy friendships. You will have to let them go their way, being willing to walk alone if need be, and for many that will be the case.

    vs 6-7:
    “For THE LORD gives wisdom,
FROM HIS MOUTH come knowledge and understanding.
He stores up sound wisdom for the upright,
he is a shield to those who walk uprightly.”

SEEK knowledge and understanding from the Lord. They alone can keep you when all around you people are falling away.

    Pray with me:

Father, it is so true that we can so easily be deceived. The philosophies of the world are in our news media daily, our televisions, all that is online, and it so many times sounds so good, so right. It takes the wisdom of God to warn the heart when it is in danger of being swayed by it. Lord, I seek wisdom from you, I cry out, I pray for strong discernment, and I ask for grace to stand when the world refuses what you show to be the truth. Father, let me not be deceived. Keep me in the truth I pray, and strengthen me with courage if or when I must stand alone.

  9. God Never Stops Sowing — Silvio José Báez, ocd

Beginning this Sunday, for three consecutive weeks, we will hear Matthew 13 proclaimed in the liturgy. In this chapter, the evangelist has brought together several parables told by Jesus. Parables are brief stories filled with simplicity and wisdom. They speak to the heart and arise from Jesus’ attentive observation of nature and everyday life. Through vivid comparisons, they awaken curiosity and engage the imagination of those who hear them, inviting them to discover the hidden and surprising meaning within.

This Sunday, we heard the first of these parables: the familiar parable of the sower. It tells of a farmer who leaves home very early in the morning to sow his field. He is an enthusiastic sower who trusts in the seed’s ability to bear fruit and begins scattering it everywhere, without first concerning himself with the kind of soil on which it falls.

This is no ordinary sower. He’s the Sower above all others, optimistic and generous, trusting that despite the stones and thorns of human selfishness and evil, the seed of his word will bear fruit. He’s a dreamer who sees life everywhere and is convinced that even a thicket can become a garden. This sower is God, and we are the soil in which he sows. As Saint Paul says, “you are God’s field” (1 Cor 3:9), and it is there that God sows his word.

It’s a beautiful image: God as a farmer, sowing in the field of the world and in our hearts, certain that his labor will not be in vain. One day, all the seeds God has sown will come to flower. Jesus, the eternal Word of God made flesh, is the seed that God continues to scatter throughout the world. Like the grain of wheat that falls into the earth and dies in order to bear much fruit, Jesus died and rose again, filling the whole world with life, light, and hope.

In the parable of the sower, Jesus describes himself. Like an enthusiastic sower, he tirelessly proclaimed the goodness of God, spreading hope, restoring health to the sick, bringing joy to the sorrowful, and welcoming sinners with mercy. He made no distinctions, excluded no one, and wasn’t discouraged by people’s rejection or hardness of heart. Jesus proclaimed the Gospel not only to those who welcomed him gladly, but also to those who rejected him.

Although Jesus knew that much of the seed would be lost because not every kind of soil would receive it, he was never discouraged and never stopped sowing. This is who Jesus was, and this is who he is. He knows that there will always be obstacles and resistance on our part, but that never keeps him from speaking his word to us or from sowing his goodness and grace in our hearts. Jesus doesn’t reject the imperfection of our lives or lose confidence that, through the power of God, the seed of the Word will bear abundant fruit.

In our distraction, we’re like soil that allows the birds to steal the Word of God from us. We’re ground filled with thorns, enslaved by so many things that bind and wound us. We’re dry, fickle, and shallow soil. Yet at the same time, we’re also good soil, thirsty for truth and love, always capable of bringing God’s seed to life. That’s why we must never lose hope: the Lord never grows tired of sowing his life and love within us. If we respond generously, we’ll become fertile soil from which miracles of life, love, and truth will spring.

God knows our hearts and trusts us. He sees possibilities for goodness and truth in our lives that we can’t imagine. We’re all wounded and clouded; we can be shallow, hardened, and thorny ground. Yet our imperfect humanity remains capable of receiving God’s seed. Let’s entrust ourselves to the Lord in faith and place our trust in the seed he is always sowing within us. As Saint Paul says, the Gospel is “the power of God” (Rom 1:16). Quietly but effectively, it’s renewing the world and, sometimes almost imperceptibly, changing the life of each one of us.

Jesus doesn’t look for perfect fields, but rather for soil willing to become fruitful. Through the power of his word, he breaks up stony ground, clears away the thorns, enriches the soil with his love, and tenderly cares for every new, fragile shoot. The Lord can make our hearts into “good soil” (Mt 13:8) that bears abundant fruit. We can all become the rich, fertile soil that God desires us to be. Let’s respond to the Lord with generosity and determination. The seed, freely given, together with the wholehearted gift of our response, will make fruits of love and truth possible in our lives.

The field of our people’s history can also seem barren and hard. At times, we may feel powerless before the arrogant cruelty of those in power who oppress the people or, worse still, come to accept repression and fear as normal. At other times, we may feel that the struggle is pointless and that it would be better to give up. Let’s not lose hope: the field isn’t all stones and thorns. If we look within, we’ll discover that our thirst for justice hasn’t been extinguished and that the flame of freedom is still burning. Nor is there any shortage of humble people among us who continue to dream, struggle, and pray for a new society. Jesus continues to sow the seed of life, truth, and freedom in our history. This is the seed of the future. These are signs of God’s sowing, which will one day bear fruit.

There are times when harvesting, gathering fruit, and seeing results seem impossible. But it is always time to sow: to sow hope, mercy, and justice, patiently and without despair. Those obsessed with reaping success and seeing immediate results may be disappointed. What we need today are sowers. We need people who sow words of hope and gestures of compassion everywhere, scattering seeds of trust and fruitful grains of sacrifice and goodness.

In the parable of the sower, Jesus reveals the humility of a God who bends down to sow life within us. He shows us the goodness of a God who doesn’t come demanding a harvest from our poor fields, but instead tirelessly sows along our stony paths and across our thorny ground. Let’s not lose trust in God the sower, who never grows tired of our barrenness and never stops hoping that shoots of love and life will spring up among our stones and thorns.

  10. The River of Life

I frequently speak words of healing and blessing over my life. Over time, my imagination began to respond to the life-giving Word of God by forming little pictures inspired by His promises. Gradually, these mental images came together until a complete vision emerged, resulting in the painting, 'The River of Life' above. (Oil on canvas. H900mm x 1080mm). The painting is symbolic of that ongoing transformation and reflects the abundant life Christ came to give me—spirit, soul, and body—here […]

  11. I Visited The Western Wall Twice

Disclaimer: This is my original work with details sourced from my personal experiences and observations during the Israel pilgrimage tour I joined and what happened during my free time. Welcome back, readers and fellow followers of the Lord! This is the 11th chapter of my ongoing series of articles about the holy nation of Israel with recollections about the experiences and discoveries I had during the pilgrimage tour I joined with my local church (hosted by strategic partner Behold Israel) in 2023. To see my previous Israel tour articles, click here, here, here, here, here,  here, here, here, here and here. No matter what happens in this unpredictable and chaotic world we live in, I will always stand with Israel and my faith in the Lord remains uncompromising!

In this latest edition of my Israel 2023 series, I share with you what I experienced when I visited Western Wall in the Old City of Jerusalem not once but twice. Also referred to as the Wailing Wall, the Western Wall is a very holy site and is one of the most definitive places to be in with regards to worshiping the Lord.

For starters, I share with you the very video I recorded about my first time ever to arrive at the Western Wall Plaza (note: I was with my pilgrimage tour group companions, our pastors and our hard-working local tour guide) as well as my first-ever approach (starts at 2:01 in the video) to the Western Wall itself. It’s a video of more than three minutes and it’s available for public viewing via YouTube. Watch the video below and pay attention to the details closely.

    https://youtu.be/H9EF50bcv_A

As you can see in the above video, I stopped recording before entering the perimeter to get closer to the Western Wall. What happened after was my personal discovery and my personal sensing of the Lord’s presence.

    About The Western Wall

To put things in perspective, the Western Wall is a retaining wall which was part of the Temple Mount expansion that King Herod (Herod the Great) did in around 19 BC. It is one of the four supporting walls of the Temple Mount which remained intact after the destruction of the Second Jewish Temple many decades later. Above it is the Temple Mount already.

Historically, the First Jewish Temple was built on the top of Mount Moriah during the time of King Solomon. The temple was destroyed by the Babylonians in 586 BCE. In 19 BC, King Herod started rebuilding a new temple and this includes enlarging the Temple Mount platform a lot which made it 1,575 feet long and 985 feet wide. Herod had ten thousand men working and trained a thousand priests to work on the most sacred parts of the Second Jewish Temple.

The construction was done after several years but the decoration was completed in 64 AD. Six years after the Second Jewish Temple was fully completed, the Romans destroyed it but the western side of the Temple Mount survived. This happened in 70 AD, long after Lord Jesus conquered death and ascended to Heaven.

At the part of the Western Wall near the corner of the Southern Wall is this area that was massively damaged when the Romans destroyed the Second Jewish Temple. Several huge rocks that fell from above during the 70 AD destruction have remained.

The Western Wall faces westward and it is the closest in proximity to the site of the Holy of Holies, the most sacred location in the Temple for the Jewish people. Be aware that Mount Moriah is the same exact mountain where Abraham almost sacrificed his son Isaac before God sent the angel to intervene and provided the ram as the sacrifice.

For centuries, the Western Wall became a great source of influence and inspiration. It became the focus of yearning and prayer for the Jewish people for countless generations. The open-air section of the Western Wall serves as a place of worshipping the Lord and it is officially a synagogue. Apart from worship, the Western Wall keeps the memory of the Jewish Temples alive and it has also been used by the State of Israel for formal ceremonies. For centuries, pilgrims from around world came to the wall to pray and leave written noted in its ancient stones.

Physically, the Western Wall is 488 meters long and the height of the exposed section reaches a height of 40 meters above the bedrock of the eastern hill of Jerusalem (Mount Moriah). The open-air section of the wall (visible to the Prayer Plaza) is comprised of 46 layers of stone and the very large stones (that many are able to touch) were put in place during the time of King Herod (Second Jewish Temple period).

    My First Visit – February 13, 2023

The widest shot of the Western Wall I managed to take during my first-ever visit.

After recording the video, I placed my smartphone into my pocket, entered the worship area and gradually made my way to the wall.

With my Holy Bible in my left hand, I touched the Western Wall with my right hand and started spending quality time with the Lord God, praying to Him. With all my heart, I expressed my thanks and dedication to Lord Jesus there at the wall. I also prayed in support of Israel and the peace of Jerusalem.

Each moment I had there, I truly felt God’s presence and I did not confuse it with the wall’s visual magnificence. As I prayed, I felt the unction from the Lord to open my eyes and look straight up at the blue sky above knowing that He is spiritual, and He is in Heaven. The Lord is not inside the stones of the wall but in His Kingdom. That said, I did not worship the stones (reminder: idolatry is foolish and unholy) as I directed my worship directly to the Lord knowing He is in Heaven.

Many people praying at the wall touching it. There were others who did the same while standing or seating on a chair. In the lower-left corner of the picture is Wilson’s Arch which leads into the indoor synagogue. Partly seen in the background is the fence that separates the men from the women. Above everyone at the right is the platform leading to Temple Mount. The men’s side on the left and women’s side on the right. More of the high platform leading to the Temple Mount.

Because we only had fifteen minutes to spend as our tour group had a schedule to follow, I wisely spent time to praising and honoring the Lord. Let me remind you all that Lord Jesus will someday return and He will fulfill His promise. He will return in Israel and Jerusalem will be His destination.

After praying to Him, I spent the remaining minutes looking around and observing. I was surrounded by Ultra-Orthodox Jews, National Religious Jews, rabbis, tourists and Christians. I witnessed the religious rituals and practices of the Jewish people and I know deep inside that the ties between Jews and Christians are biblical.

As I walked out to rejoin my pilgrimage tour group, I took shot of the women’s area of the Western Wall.

The whole area is indeed sacred and that means visitors should be respectful and should practice decency near the Western Wall. People praying to God are to be respected and when there are many others praying while touching the wall, you will really have to wait for your turn. Be mindful that the Lord is always watching you as there is simply no reason to cause disrespect, playing around and causing trouble at the Western Wall.

When my fifteen minutes ran out, I went to the exit to rejoin my tour group.

    My Second Visit – February 15, 2023

I took this shot of the Western Wall after making my way through from the Temple Mount.

Two days later, it was our tour group’s one and only rest day. After having a really early breakfast at our hotel, I marched to the Old City of Jerusalem and visited the Temple Mount for the first time ever. After spending time up there, I took the exit and made my way down to return to the Western Wall.

Once again I took time touching the wall and praying to the Lord and expressing my thanks to Him with a lot of heart. After several minutes, I took a seat to pray to Him while resting my legs. Then I noticed a North American man (who looked so much like Hillsong Church’s Phil Dooley) with the Holy Bible at one end of the fence (separating the men and the women) by the wall facing at the other direction (his back on the wall). He preached the Word of God and asked the Lord to save everyone. What he said reminded me that God has a plan for everyone, including the Jews (His chosen people) and there is still time for the lost and unsaved to realize Jesus as the Lord and the Savior of all.

My hand touching the Western Wall. I spent much more time praying to the Lord during my 2nd visit there.

After I was done praying by the wall, I decided to visit Wilson’s Arch as I was so curious why a lot of people had been entering and exiting it. It turned out to be Western Wall tunnel (with an arch area) and inside was a synagogue where there lots of Jews read the Old Testament, the Torah and pray. At the entrance/exit, a Jewish rabbi invited me in and assured me that foreigners and non-Jews were welcome. So I went in and he showed some parts of the indoor synagogue.

As it was a place of worship by the Jews, I was cautious moving inside and spending time observing. Carefully I only took a few photos for this feature article and it was astonishing to see more of the Western Wall indoors. Not only that, it was impressive to see the arches – including those huge stones above our heads – and it turns out they were constructed during Herod’s time and without any cement at all. There were also lots of shelves of books on both sides.

I took this shot during my short visit inside the Western Wall tunnel. See those huge stones above everyone? Those were put into place during the time of King Herod and no cement was ever used. It is amazing to see as it was constructed without any of the modern construction technologies of today. The Western Wall tunnel synagogue is one of the holiest synagogues in Israel due to its proximity to where the First Jewish Temple was wherein the Holy of Holies resided.

The indoor synagogue is one of the holiest synagogues in Israel due to its proximity to where the original Jewish Temple was wherein the Holy of Holies resided. Since it was my plan to revisit the Upper Room and visit both King David’s Tomb and Oskar Schindler’s grave, I eventually left the Western Wall tunnel. Before tracing my way back to the Jewish Quarter (where we visited two days prior), I took one last look back at the Western Wall. I intend to revisit it and spend quality time with the Lord there again in the future.

    Biblical Significance

While it is a fact that the Western Wall was not explicitly mentioned in the Holy Bible, it has always been part of the Temple Mount since Herod’s time. To put things in perspective, we need to go back to the time when King Solomon dedicated the First Temple asking God to hear the prayers made toward it. Learn from the holy scriptures below.

that Your eyes may be open toward this temple night and day, toward the place of which You said, ‘My name shall be there,’ that You may hear the prayer which Your servant makes toward this place. And may You hear the supplication of Your servant and of Your people Israel, when they pray toward this place. Hear in heaven Your dwelling place; and when You hear, forgive.

    1 Kings 8:29-30 (NKJV)

“Moreover, concerning a foreigner, who is not of Your people Israel, but has come from a far country for Your name’s sake (for they will hear of Your great name and Your strong hand and Your outstretched arm), when he comes and prays toward this temple, hear in heaven Your dwelling place, and do according to all for which the foreigner calls to You, that all peoples of the earth may know Your name and fear You, as do Your people Israel, and that they may know that this temple which I have built is called by Your name.

    1 Kings 8:41-43 (NKJV)

The First Jewish Temple eventually got destroyed by the Babylonians. Centuries later, Herod executed the massive rebuilding of the Temple (Second Jewish Temple) in Jerusalem as well as the expansion of the Temple Mount itself. What was achieved drew reactions from many people who saw it and there were references of such reactions in the New Testament. For insight, read the scriptures below.

Then as He went out of the temple, one of His disciples said to Him, “Teacher, see what manner of stones and what buildings are here!”

    Mark 13:1 (NKJV)

Then the Jews replied, It took forty-six years to build this temple (sanctuary), and will You raise it up in three days?

    John 2:20 (AMPC)

To be clear, the forty-six years mentioned in John 2:20 refers to the massive renovation and the expansion of the Second Jewish Temple.

Long before the Second Temple got destroyed, Lord Jesus prophesied its destruction. By the time Lord Jesus made the prophesy, He was already rejected by the religious Jews. Those people refused to accept Him as their Messiah and they had disobeyed God as a result. Lord Jesus wept for Jerusalem knowing that suffering and destruction would come and it happened in 70 AD. Learn from the scriptures below.

Now as He drew near, He saw the city and wept over it, saying,

“If you had known, even you, especially in this your day, the things that make for your peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes. For days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment around you, surround you and close you in on every side, and level you, and your children within you, to the ground; and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not know the time of your visitation.”

    Luke 19:41-44 (NKJV)

Then Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came up to show Him the buildings of the temple. And Jesus said to them,

“Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down.”

    Matthew 24:1-2 (NKJV)

As it is very clear that God always has a plan for the faithful and His chosen people, it was prophesied that He would bring the Jews (scattered around the world) back to Israel in the last days. This prophecy was fulfilled in May 1948 when the modern State of Israel was formally established and a lot of Jews returned or settled in since then. Lord Jesus will return to us some time in the future and there is time for the Jews to accept Him as their Messiah, to repent and submit to Him. The other lost and unsaved people of the world still have opportunities to realize Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Very clearly, Lord Jesus is the hope of ALL nations! Learn from the scriptures below.

If any of you are driven out to the farthest parts under heaven, from there the Lord your God will gather you, and from there He will bring you. Then the Lord your God will bring you to the land which your fathers possessed, and you shall possess it. He will prosper you and multiply you more than your fathers.

    Deuteronomy 30:4-5 (NKJV)

    Jesus answered him,

“I assure you and most solemnly say to you, unless a person is born again [reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, sanctified], he cannot [ever] see and experience the kingdom of God.”

    John 3:3 (AMP)

Beloved ones, let me repeat emphatically that the gospel entrusted to me was not given to me by any man. No one taught me this revelation, for it was given to me directly by the unveiling of Jesus Christ.

By now you have heard stories of how severely I harassed and persecuted Christians and how systematically I endeavored to destroy God’s church, all because of my radical devotion to the Jewish religion. My zeal and passion for the doctrines of Judaism distinguished me among my people, for I was far more advanced in my religious instruction than others my age.

But then God called me by his grace, and chose me from my birth to be his. He was pleased to unveil his Son in me so that I would proclaim him to the peoples of the world. After I had this encounter, I kept it a secret for some time, sharing it with no one. And I had no desire to run to Jerusalem and try to impress those who had become apostles before me. Instead, I withdrew into the Arabian Desert. Then I returned to Damascus, where I had first encountered Jesus.

    Galatians 1:11-17 (TPT)

For He is [Himself] our peace (our bond of unity and harmony). He has made us both [Jew and Gentile] one [body], and has broken down (destroyed, abolished) the hostile dividing wall between us,

By abolishing in His [own crucified] flesh the enmity [caused by] the Law with its decrees and ordinances [which He annulled]; that He from the two might create in Himself one new man [one new quality of humanity out of the two], so making peace.

And [He designed] to reconcile to God both [Jew and Gentile, united] in a single body by means of His cross, thereby killing the mutual enmity and bringing the feud to an end.

And He came and preached the glad tidings of peace to you who were afar off and [peace] to those who were near.

For it is through Him that we both [whether far off or near] now have an introduction (access) by one [Holy] Spirit to the Father [so that we are able to approach Him].

Therefore you are no longer outsiders (exiles, migrants, and aliens, excluded from the rights of citizens), but you now share citizenship with the saints (God’s own people, consecrated and set apart for Himself); and you belong to God’s [own] household.

You are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets with Christ Jesus Himself the chief Cornerstone.

In Him the whole structure is joined (bound, welded) together harmoniously, and it continues to rise (grow, increase) into a holy temple in the Lord [a sanctuary dedicated, consecrated, and sacred to the presence of the Lord].

In Him [and in fellowship with one another] you yourselves also are being built up [into this structure] with the rest, to form a fixed abode (dwelling place) of God in (by, through) the Spirit.

    Ephesians 2:14-22 (AMPC)

    Conclusion

This was me during my first-ever Western Wall visit on February 13, 2023. I had The Passion Translation (TPT) Holy Bible with me. My thanks to the guy who took this picture for me.

My two visits to the Western Wall were very significant to me personally. As seen above, each visit has been different, new discoveries happened and I spent quality time with Lord. The place is holy and it is a must-visit for anyone going to Israel. If I ever visit Israel again, I would return to the Western Wall to praise, thank and honor the Lord. If you are a person of faith who is about to visit Israel for the first time, I urge you to visit the Western Wall in Jerusalem. Learn from my experiences. I also encourage you all to stand united in support of Israel, learn to love and bless the Jewish people, help the lost and unsaved come to Lord Jesus and always pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! May they prosper who love you [the Holy City]!

May peace be within your walls and prosperity within your palaces!

For my brethren and companions’ sake, I will now say, Peace be within you!

For the sake of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek, inquire for, and require your good.

    Psalm 122:6-9 (AMPC)

Israel is the holiest place to visit in the whole world! Visit Israel with the Holy Bible! Pray to the Lord wholeheartedly and reveal to Him your heart’s desire to visit Israel to deepen your faith in Him. Always be the fearless and aggressive church of Lord Jesus! Follow the light of Lord Jesus, keep on praying to support Israel, learn to love and bless the Jewish people and pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

  12. Matthew Henry reminds us that Christian meekness is not weakness but Christlike strength under control. The believer walks in love, forgives freely, serves humbly, and stoops to acts of mercy others avoid. In an age praising toughness, Scripture calls us to resemble Christ—strong enough to kneel, serve, and love sacrificially.

  13. Quote of the day, 23 January: St. Edith Stein

For those blessed souls who have entered into the unity of life in God, everything is one: rest and activity, looking and acting, silence and speaking, listening and communicating, surrender in loving acceptance, and an outpouring of love in grateful songs of praise.

As long as we are still on the way—and the farther away from the goal the more intensely—we are still subject to temporal laws and are instructed to actualize in ourselves, one after another and all the members complementing each other mutually, the divine life in all its fullness.

    • We need hours for listening silently and allowing the Word of God to act on us until it moves us to bear fruit in an offering of praise and an offering of action.
    • We need to have traditional forms and to participate in public and prescribed worship services so our interior life will remain vital and on the right track, and so it will find appropriate expression.

There must be special places on earth for the solemn praise of God, places where this praise is formed into the greatest perfection of which humankind is capable. From such places, it can ascend to heaven for the whole Church and have an influence on the Church’s members; it can awaken the interior life in them and make them zealous for external unanimity.

But it must be enlivened from within by this means: that here, too, room must be made for silent recollection. Otherwise, it will degenerate into a rigid and lifeless lip service.

And protection from such dangers is provided by those homes for the interior life where souls stand before the face of God in solitude and silence in order to be quickening love in the heart of the Church.

  14. Quote of the day, 28 December: Silvio José Báez, ocd

Yet the powers of this world have tried to halt the power of God’s Word and to extinguish its light. The Gospel tells us that it is “a light that shines in the dark, a light that darkness could not overpower” (Jn 1:5).

At this moment, I’m thinking of the absurd decision of the Nicaraguan dictatorship, which—like other dark powers in the past—has recently prohibited the entry of the Sacred Scriptures into the country. They’re afraid of the power and the light of the Word of God.

These atheistic and shadowy powers forget that the Word of God goes beyond the book known as the Bible. The Word of God is Jesus Christ—the Word made flesh—welcomed into the hearts of believers and lived and proclaimed in the Church. It depends on us, the believers, whether the Word of God continues to enlighten, console, and strengthen our people. It’s not enough to shout and protest on social media about the ban on importing Bibles. We must listen to the Word, meditate on it, celebrate it, and proclaim it tirelessly with our lives. Only then will we show that “they cannot chain up God’s news” (2 Tim 2:9). It depends on us.

“The Word was made flesh” (Jn 1:14). He pitched his humble and fragile tent in history. He did not choose palaces from which the powerful impose themselves and dominate others. On the contrary, the fragility of the Word is a radical and unequivocal “no” to unjust power and to totalitarian systems. The Word of God entered the world humbly and discreetly because he respects our freedom; he does not violate us, he does not impose himself.

The Word of God has come to us poor and unarmed, knocking at the door of our hearts so that we may welcome and embrace him in love. He has come not to judge us, but to grant us forgiveness and to free us from every form of bondage.

However dark the nights of this world may be, no night lasts forever. The eternal Word of God was born as a child who cannot yet speak, to teach us that when God seems silent, he is speaking to us in another way.

  15. Quote of the day, 28 September: Silvio José Báez, ocd

This Sunday, we will listen to one of Jesus’ most famous parables, the one about the rich man and the poor man Lazarus (Lk 16:19-31).

What separated the rich man from poor Lazarus was a door.

Our heart has a door, too. We should ask ourselves if it’s a steel security door, which makes us hard and indifferent to others—especially those who suffer the most—or if it is an open door, through which we look outside ourselves, go out to share with others, and invite them in.

We must open the door of our hearts, our homes, our churches, and our society to see if there is someone outside who is waiting for something from us—someone we can help, who perhaps doesn’t have the confidence or the strength to knock on our door.

This parable teaches us that we live in a righteous manner when we don’t spend our lives in a virtual safe room but instead open our eyes and hearts to see the needs of others and help them. This parable teaches us that the other person is a gift (cf. Francis, Lenten Message 2017, 1). Poor Lazarus, lying at the rich man’s door, wasn’t an annoying burden but a call to open the door of the heart.

Every person is a gift, every life we meet on our path is a gift that deserves welcome, respect, and love. We are called to welcome the lives of others, to love them, and help them, especially when they are weak, fragile, or threatened—as in the case of the homeless and immigrants, the sick and elderly.

If we listen to the Word of God, we’ll learn that God is the Father of all humanity and that other individuals are our brothers and sisters. Listening to the Word of God will also give us the strength to open the doors of our hearts to others, to recognize their dignity, reach out to them, and help them.

“The word of God is alive and powerful, capable of converting hearts and leading them back to God. When we close our heart to the gift of God’s word, we end up closing our heart to the gift of our brothers and sisters” (cf. Francis, Lenten Message 2017, 3).

The secret to living in fullness and not ending up in the abyss of damnation like the rich man in the parable is this: listening to the Word of God.

  16. Carl Ferdinand Wilhelm Walther was the first President of the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod. This pamphlet speaks against communism and socialism, but also surprisingly, makes striking criticisms of greed. One such warning is that no Christian would have their money and heart as one.

Is this a common spiritual warning today?

    Where is your heart?

  17. Granville Sharp helped found the British and Foreign Bible Society. Exploring the Good Samaritan (Luke 10), he says God extended benevolence to brethren of the UNIVERSE (emphasis original), no matter how opposite their religious or political opinions.

Today, do we search out the differences in other people’s religious & political opinions, and use those as reasons to cut off all empathy?

How can you exercise benevolence 2 UR opponents in religion and politics? #christian #biblical #wordofgod

  18. Petrus Sacharie Nakskow, a Lutheran minster, lists five facts about Dives, the rich man who was uncharitable to Lazarus in Luke 16.

How can you depend on Christ, be sparing in your sumptuous feasts, be charitable to the poor, believe in Christ, and believe Moses and the Prophets?

  19. James Hannington, Anglican Bishop, describes Special Mission to Zanzibar. Christian missionaries worked with liberated people and set up posts to suppress the slave trade.

Contrary to librul dogma, fighting slavery was key to these missions. And note that it does not appear the fighting was with giant cannons, or massive armies, but the gospel.

How can you spread a gospel that would suppress the slave trade? (vs. embolden enslavers?)

  20. Thomas Watson, English Puritan, writes on the use of money. It can replace support of wage earner, support vocation of defending the oppressed and easing pain. One may lift one up and away from the gates of death.

I seriously heard a pastor say that a Christian should not say the word “oppressed.” But even the pet causes of the Right have a grain of truth of oppression in them.

How can you make appropriate use of money?

  21. Every generous act of giving, with every perfect gift, is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. In fulfillment of his own purpose he gave us birth by the word of truth, so that we would become a kind of first fruits of his creatures.

Welcome with meekness the implanted word that has the power to save your souls.

Be doers of the word, and not merely hearers who deceive themselves.

Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.

    James 1:17-18, 21b-22, 27

Authentic Christianity is not based on words but on concrete deeds. The believer has been brought forth by the Father through the “word of truth,” that is, through the gospel of Christ, “so that we would become a kind of first fruits of his creatures” (v. 18).

For this reason, believers must live in fidelity to the Word that has brought them forth and has the power to lead them to the fullness of salvation: “Welcome with meekness the implanted word that has the power to save your souls” (v. 21b). The Word must be received with humility, without resistance or violence, so that it may be planted in our lives; it will then bear fruit when put into practice.

For James, the ultimate point of listening to the Word is reached when it becomes life: “Be doers of the word, and not merely hearers who deceive themselves” (v. 22). It is of little use to listen to and know the Word of God if it is not put into practice.

Those who live in obedience to the Word of God will overcome the temptation to live a ritualistic and external religion, focusing their existence on two aspects that are fundamental in the life of a believer according to divine revelation: (a) The practice of works of mercy towards the poorest, symbolized in the text by the expression “orphans and widows”; and (b) “To keep oneself unstained by the world,” that is, to live a life guided not by self-centeredness (cf. 1 Jn 2:15-17).

  22. Here is what the Lord says concerning the false prophets: “My heart and my mind are deeply disturbed. I tremble all over. I am like a drunk person, like a person who has had too much wine, because of the way the Lord and his holy word are being mistreated. Jeremiah 23.9 NET.

The prophet Jeremiah is distraught at how God’s people treat God’s word.

  23. Personally, I’ve come to agree with Origen of Alexandria, a third century Christian scholar. He believed in a “divine spark” present within each person.

In his writings, Origen described this divine spark as follows:

In every soul there is something divine, which is not the product of the body. It is impossible that it should perish, since it is incapable of suffering, and is not liable to be hurt by anything external.

The soul is a spark of the divine, an effulgence of the eternal light, which is the Word of God.

These quotes highlight Origen’s belief in the divine nature of the human soul and its connection to the eternal and divine realm. He saw the divine spark within each person as a reflection of the divine light, and believed that it could never be destroyed or lost, but would always endure.

Recoginzing that spark within ourselves and seeing that spark within everyone we encounter is vital to being able to fully love as Jesus commanded.

  24. Fix these words of mine into your mind and being, tie them as a reminder on your hands, and let them be symbols on your forehead. Deuteronomy 11.18 NET.

If this was true of the old covenant, how much more so when applied to the words of Christ in the new covenant?
