  1. “domestic combustion, mostly from burning wood in stoves and open fires, releases more particulate matter pollution (PM2.5) than road traffic in the UK.

PM2.5 is a particularly harmful form of air pollution which lodges deeply in the lungs, brain and other organs.

An open fire emits 4000 times more PM2.5 than a gas boiler”

Visit mumsforlungs.org for more info on their campaign to raise awareness of the harm of burning wood.

  2. The temperature has dropped here in #Norfolk UK in the past couple of days…I fear this point in the calendar every year because it means people start to light their #woodburners and open fires (although it’s more often the former in the city).

This means I get deluged my my neighbour’s woodsmoke. I can smell it inside our house.

And every year I go around my neighbourhood with the #MumsForLungs flyers - particularly targeting the posher streets with piles of wood outside their doors.

  3. In my new build estate several homeowners have had #woodburners installed. All the properties have gas central heating & have been built to latest building regs. One homeowner has COPD. The allotment holders behind us love to torch green waste. The council is toothless. #NorthNorfolk #BurnBabyBurn
