I just rolled credits on Tiny Tina's #Wonderlands, and I think it's my favorite game in the #Borderlands series. I love the setting, the humor felt more timeless, and it didn't feel as grindy as Borderlands can be sometimes.

That makes 4 games (technically 3 and a DLC, but Burning Shores was still about 10 hours, and I didn't even 100% it yet) finished in February!

Especially with some of the optional assists you can turn on from nearly the start of the game it removes a lot of grinding so you can focus on the story and beautiful art. 1 week left now to try to beat #Wonderlands before February is over!

Pod choinkę dostałem Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, więc wreszcie mogłem nadrobić spin-off jednej z moich ulubionych serii, który jakoś dotąd przelatywał mi koło nosa. Borderlands 3 miało wiele niezaprzeczalnych zalet, ale w moich wspomnieniach nie dorównuje genialnej "dwójce". I #Wonderlands wreszcie uświadomiło mi, czego tam brakowało.

SZALEŃSTWO! ABSURDALNY HUMOR! EKSPLOZJE! Mimo że uwielbiam założenia tej serii, nie spieszyło mi się sięgać po Wonderlands, bo czułem już trochę przesyt taką formułą. Teraz widzę, że to był błąd, bo powrót do erpegowej sesji Tiny Tiny (sic!) całkiem nieźle odświeża borderlandsowe uniwersum. Wszystko oczywiście wciąż oparte jest na mechanice looter shootera, ale mamy choćby przepełniony sekretami i przypadkowymi walkami świat gry, który przemierzamy w widoku z lotu ptaka. Znowu bawiłem się jak głupi przy sidequestach toczących bekę z serii Monkey Island (Bones Three-wood to doskonałe imię dla szkieletu) czy The Ditcher... sami dobierzcie rym i zgadnijcie, do czego nawiązywał.

Pod tym wszystkim jest nawet jakaś warstwa poważniejszych tematów, ale daleko im do tego, co prezentował pamiętny Assault on Dragon Keep. No i właśnie: co chwila wracamy do Borderlands 2 i chyba już zawsze cała seria będzie tkwiła w cieniu tamtej odsłony. Wonderlands walczy z wtórnością na wielu polach i momentami udaje mu się całkiem nieźle. Wciąż jednak nie rozpatrywałbym go w kategorii czegoś więcej niż jednorazowego, całkiem sympatycznego odskoku w bok, który nie przytłacza ogromem świata jak mogłoby dziś uczynić Borderlands 3 z kompletem dodatków.

Podobno Gearbox już rozwija równolegle zarówno Borderlands 4, jak i Wonderlands 2. Nie jestem przekonany co do tego, czy to aby na pewno taki dobry pomysł, by czynić z opowieści Tiny Tiny osobną markę. Co by tam jednak nie było obecnie w produkcji, życzę ekipie Randy'ego Pitchforda, by bez wahania odpięła wrotki i zaszalała tym razem po całości.

PS No i jest pierwsza #platyna w tym roku.

I'm contemplating tweaking #bunkersandbadasses a bit to better fit with other science-fantasy settings like Masters of Umdaar, Gamma World or, *gasp*, Rifts (does anyone remember #rifts – fondly, I mean?).

I wouldn't have to change too much, actually. Not more than I already did for my #borderlands #ttrpg game I'm currently running. I would need to add a spell mechanic, though, which is missing in B&B bc the game came out before Tiny Tina's #Wonderlands was a thing. But combat spells are basically like guns or fancy shields, right? I could rule that they use a gun slot and treat them similiar, mechanics-wise. Hmmm. I would have to make spells cards, though, which would be a lot of work. On the other hand, it would allow me to really create a Wonderlands-sytle game in Bunkers & Badasses.

Oh, damn, then I would have to add the classes from the game as well. Oh no. :)
