I've loved playing records from the time I was first able to walk and barely talk. My grandma bought me a few record players in those early years. I wish I could say I was really careful even at a very young age. But I was told I wasn't.
Today, this is what I play records on. I inherited my grandpa's amplifier. I don't have it hooked up to speakers, so only listen with my headphones.

Several years ago, my mom got this fun little gadget for me. She thought we might be able to add something a little extra to our music. But I wasn't able to figure out how to incorporate it with our songs. I wished I could have made it work and added a little more fun along with her tenor (four-string) guitar.
Has anyone ever seen or worked with a gadget like this?

Thinking about my mom on her birthday. Always thinking about her but thoughts are even stronger on her actual date of birth. Remembering the many times of taking her out to dinner, the cards and presents given and the oceans of memories throughout my life with her. I've been missing her all of these years of not seeing her sweet smiling face.

12 years ago today, my mom passed away. There's not a day that goes by that I don't think about her and her sweet uplifting presence and smiling face and of course, our mutual love for music. There have been so many songs that I've really wanted to share with her throughout these past years.
I think it's been therapeutic for me to create collages so that's what I've been doing.

43 years ago today, July 30, 1983, Reba McEntire debuted at #74 on Billboard’s Hot Country Singles chart with “Why Do We Want (What We Know We Can't Have)”. It went on to peak at #7 and spent a total of 18 weeks on the chart.
This was Reba's last Top 10 on Mercury Records shortly before moving on to a phenomenal and quite long and successful run on MCA Records.

It was 18 years ago this month that my mom, Patricia and I sang at The Golden Lion Hotel on 'open mic' in Anchorage that evening and our late cousin Ramona and her husband Jerry filmed the whole thing.
I'm so grateful they took the time to be there to see us sing, bringing their camera to film and gave us this video footage that I cherish of those times.

I spent lots of time with my grandma, (my mom's mom) when I was little listening to music by Charley Pride, Lynn Anderson & others. She & my mom influenced my love for music. I always felt so secure when I was with my grandma when I was very young.
She took me in to live with her when I was ten years old. I feel so lucky that she said "yes" when I asked if I could live with her. I'm so grateful.

Sylvia, sadly posted earlier today about the passing of one of her band members from the 1980s, Pete Finney. He played steel and acoustic guitars in her band for about 5 years.
She mentions Pete and some of her other band members in this video I recently created.

I had mentioned a couple posts ago, how I had wished Sylvia and Don Williams would have recorded a duet together. Well, I'd wished the same for Sylvia and Jim Glaser.
However, what I'd say is the second-best thing, he sang backup on her first album "Drifter". Including Sylvia's first Top 10 hit "Tumbleweed". In 2018 when she re-recorded some of her hits for an album she entitled "Second Bloom", she invited Jim to sing on it with her. The song turned out so beautiful.
My dog, George passed away a long time ago. I began writing a song about him on his 17th birthday, and I finished it about a month after he passed away. There were some additional changes made when mom and I were in the recording process.
"George (I Knew He Was the Puppy for Me)", is track 6 on our album.

My dog George has been gone a long time but after he passed away, I never did get a new pet, mostly due to it being difficult having an animal when renting an apartment.
I have wonderful memories of the day I adopted him from the animal shelter when I was 10 & throughout his 17-year life.
I wish I could fit on here all that I recently wrote about how the song I started writing on his 17th birthday came to be.
It was 40 years ago today that I was fortunate enough in a two-day period to see one of four Sylvia performances at the Fair! They were awesome shows!
I clearly remember first hearing that my most favorite vocalist, Sylvia was scheduled to perform at our Fair. I could hardly believe I was finally going to be able to see her live in-concert. Taking a photo with her was icing on the cake.
