I’ve been trying to think of a good name for the #Halifax #PWHL #WomensHockey team. Trying to come up with something that is original, regionally appropriate and somewhat abstract. How about Halifax Light (or Lights) with a lighthouse logo?

"Men always come first in the pseudo-feminist political program of the right. Trump’s locker room showboating is less of a Freudian slip than a summation of the gender politics that have been center stage in the United States over the last seven years. An embrace of a firmly held belief that in many domains of life women are lesser."

Does anyone happen to know if there are any Wikipedia editing projects specific for #WomensHockey players and topics? Or events for addressing the discoverability gap in #WomensSports similar to events for women in science?
I've noticed a lot of sparse or outdated pages when looking up #PWHL and #SDHL players, and a lot of #IceHockey topic pages (like those for goaltenders, defenders, forwards, captains, etc.) which don't have any women in their examples and lists.

"Now I have to sit in front of you and explain someone else's behavior. It's not my responsibility"

I could explain to you the drama, but I won't

Because that defeats her point

Why, at the pinnacle of her team's success at the #Olympics #WinterOlympics #WinterOlympics2026, is the focus on anything other than her team?

Why steal their thunder? Why subcede it to someone else's toxicity?

A common problem in this world

Amelia Mavis Chistnot on how Trump "is milking the men’s [hockey] team’s complicity and hyper masculine bro culture for all it’s worth.":

"Things won't improve until men stop laughing along to the locker room talk.

Things won't get better until people stop giving them a free pass…."

He's salivating for those young male votes.

"Players laughed. The video spread. And just like that, the most dominant force in American hockey — women — was repositioned not at the center of the story, but at its margins."

"What should have been a shared moment of national pride instead curdled into something more familiar. On speakerphone, with FBI Director Kash Patel holding the phone inside the locker room, Trump invited the team to the White House and joked that he would 'probably be impeached' if he didn’t also invite the gold medal–winning women’s team, reducing their victory to a political aside."

"The women politely alerted the White House they would not be accepting any invitations to the State of the Union, because apparently they have a firm grip of what the state of our union really is right now.

And that important statement resonates far more loudly than any meaningless 'U-S-A ... U-S-A' chant ever will."

"Fox: 'Speaker Mike Johnson says he expects both the men’s and women’s gold medal winning hockey teams to attend State of the Union tomorrow night.'
