I love the garden at any time of the day. Without a doubt, though, the light is best early mornings and, as in this photograph, late afternoons.
As everywhere in the garden, the borders contain deliberately placed plants but welcome with open arms the many self-sown wildflowers.

From a week or so ago, Lily of the valley, Convallaria majalis, in the stumpery. They are very reliable flowering at the right time of the year, the beginning of May.
In Austria (and probably other German speaking countries) they are called Maiglöckchen, little May bells.

Comfrey in the stumpery. Sourced from a drift of self-sown comfrey elsewhere in the garden.
The bees love it but they were camera shy. I overheard them talking: “Oh. it’s him again with this thing that goes click. Looks like a giant eye. Very suspicious. Better wait and come back when he’s gone”, they said.

This bread is inspired by the #Greek #Horiatiko - #Χωριάτικο #ψωμί - and also southern #Italian breads, such as the #Pane #pugliese.
There seems to be a geographic theme here, southern #Adriatic and northern #Ionian - and it is a beautiful part of the world.

Planted extra #snowdrop bulbs in the green at the weekend. Did not take long at all—just as well, there was an icy wind, which made being outside unpleasant—and gave me a chance to use my new #Hori Hori knife for the first time.
Despite its name, it is not a knife but a #Japanese #trowel. Manufacturer suggests to use it as an all-round weeder, bulb-planter and general subterranean rummager.
They also call the Hori Hori a weed digging, plant dividing, seed drilling, bulb planting, pot scraping, stone prising, ivy removing, subterranean rummaging, life saving, rooting tooting all round game-changer.
Hm … After using it once I think that they may have a point.

I know I have posted about #snowdrops, #Galanthus, before. I am so pleased with them. They keep increasing - through the season and year on year.
This group at the entrance to the #stumpery. I also have them in other borders and the #GrassMeadow.
As they flower so early, snowdrops do not rely on #pollinators but spread by bulb division. They are still visited by bees and other early insects on a warm day.
