Most people are not bothered by someone using more inclusive language, it's when someone tries to correct others for using language they consider less inclusive that many otherwise very reasonable people get annoyed. It feels insulting.
In close relationships when the time is right, these conversations should still happen. And think what you want of people based on their word usage. But otherwise, our lexicon needs to change organically. It always does. #wokeism

The (obvious) question of WHY would the BBC show footage of Muslim women in a story about the Pope?" never even enters their mind. They are just SO threatened by #Wokeism that they see it everywhere.

the ideology thing and enforcement in woke circles can be culty, but it lacks the figurehead. I mean even Bernie got derailed as being not woke enough for going on Rogan and having Bernie Bros. (he called open borders a Koch brothers conspiracy for cheap labor) since then, he seems to have fallen in line.
I just did another post arguing for #AltRight instead of #MAGA. I think that's much more similar to #wokeism.

I'm seeing an uptick in video essays under the guise of "just asking questions" attempting to claim there is a conspiracy to destroy #OpenSource, #OpenHardware, #FOSS projects and culture by Far-Left Extremists, #Wokeism, and the #DEI agenda.
None of this is new. They only exploit a new sense of entitlement to more openly speak and act as they long have, emboldened by the spread of anti-democratic, authoritarian, irrational, emotion-driven, ethnocentric rhetoric and assaults on liberty by #Trump and the #TrumpRegime

You're not pushing back on #CancelCulture if you only do it when conservatives get attacked. Not when pro Palestinian voices get shut down etc. You're just taking a side in the culture war.
Same with recognizing #wokeism as a religion and complaining about it, but not complaining about religion in other areas of public life. It's illiberalism everywhere that's a problem. Everybody wants the best possible outcome. Some perceive #DEI as leading to lower quality hires and #criticaltheory leading to a misunderstanding of history. Taken too far, I think both can do that. But done well, they both do the opposite. They allow us a fuller view of what's out there, correcting for our own natural bias and the cultural bias built up over generations of having too few have more of a say in the public conversation. But getting this right won't be easy. #wokeism #LiberalValues

Pierre Poilievre’s hate filled propagandist speech at the National Holocaust Memorial Ceremony yesterday was a disgrace to all Canadians.
He neglected to mention the millions of innocent victims exterminated by Nazis, or condemn the current disturbing rise in fascism across America and Europe openly embraced by his own elite supporter Elon Musk.
Ultimately, Pierre’s true fear for the future is a Canadian culture that is aware of and actively attentive to important societal facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice).
That is a culture that would reject a Prime Minister who intentionally refused to recognize more than two genders exist.
That is a culture that would reject an illiberal autocrat hell bent on removing established civil rights and supports while openly embracing big money corporate interests over Canadian values and beliefs.
This is not our future Prime Minister, this is just another RW populist looking to further dehumanize and attack those culturally aware in Canada.
Trump’s success has emboldened #MapleMaga to believe they can win the culture war with Pierre Poilievre, they simply need to relentlessly attack their ultimate enemy, societal awareness.

Red Flag in produce.
Standing at the cash register at our market today some rando middle-aged guy tells me he likes what my shirt says.
Then he tells me he has a favorite shirt about #pronouns and #wokeism. Finally he says "I like to think I'm a pretty nice guy until somebody triggers me." 🙄
Part of me wanted to ask him what he did when he wasn't standing around cash registers trying to get somebody to pull his trigger, another part of me wanted to leave and never talk to him again.
